Garden Birds and wild birds thread.

Stick with the British Jay Kaz.
An incredible bird.one of my favourites. So clever, secretive and full of colour. The Jay is a real bird.love em.
Woke up this morning to a thick blanket of snow. Nothing was moving, the snow on my back lawn was virgin, untouched by our fox, our cat or anything else.
Then, a jay appeared. He revelled in the snow, flicking it in the air and jumping about with unbridled excitment.
I stayed by the fire.

The badgers are slowly coming back after their baby making , foxes look magnificant , ratty living under the shed is dicing with death , merlin got it, brought it in and then lost it , taking the piss coming out and nicking bread . I have weighted merlin down with two bells and a dog sized barrell address thing , he makes so much noise now , cant face another pigeon with a nicked artery being taken into every room , feathers everywhere , he cant raise his head but no more hunting since

Just looking out of the window with merlin and a male fox comes up the garden, looks at us briefly on his way past us on his way out the front, he is used to me at the open window at night so he is not afraid

All of the garden birds disappeared at the same time yesterday, a big hawk (I think it was a red tailed) showed up and sat on a lamp post for about half an hour

This guy is getting to be a bit or a regular in our garden. Normally appears around 9 or 10am most days.

Yesterday, he came in and buried some peanuts next to the path, whilst a crow was sat on the shed roof watching. As soon as the squirrel started to wander off the crow swooped down to dig up the nuts. Fortunately for the squirrel, it spotted the crow and chased it off. Then it was a bit of a stand off for about 5 minutes, before the crow eventually gave in and flew away.

Very interesting you describe the manner of death, nicked artery, your cat ..Merlin,a born killer,..choosing the most efficient economical way to do it....Just like the Stoat after a Rabbit.
Born killer.

He hadnt touched his neck area , the damage was its belly area , bear in mind he is learning how to hunt he didnt do it the way you would think he would , still horrible and a right mess , so far all the clanging around his neck is working

I have so many birds that eat on the ground and my last cat wasnt a hunter so they didnt take any notice of her , they have to adapt to merlin , touch wood ..
