Well done Phil Foden for not going down. We are not a team of cheaters and divers. Leave that to the rags and the dippers. City are a proud, honest team and club.
My ERO was adamant that had he gone down he would have got the pen. I said that had he gone down he would have been booked for simulation.

I think the great thing about Souness talking sense is him NOT having a soft spot for City but is just talking perfect sense from a neutral perspective! Then it's a true compliment.

I've said many times, he's not entirely neutral: his wife is definitely a City supporter. He is however one of the best pundits and calls things as he sees them.

Foden just has to start games.

Tell you what, I don't know if it was sad or great to see in equal measure?

Some of the runs Sergio made were a reminder of what an elite, formerly, world class striker, does.

The intelligence, the instincts.

The sad part was seeing him make those runs but his legs just not quite getting him at the coalface.

Some of that will hopefully be down to a lack of minutes.

If I still had to back anybody with my last penny in the dying moments of a Champions League final, five yards out, it would still be him this season.

Phil still has the inconsistency you'd expect from a kid so I'm not as convinced he has to start every game; although you can make a case to start him and sub him if he is not having the required impact.

When he is hot though, you do want him in the team.

Sergio is rustier than the hull of the Titanic but I think he can still sink a few teams.

Totally agree with this. I think Sergio's race is run unfortunately and I think its the right call for him to be moved on but it's telling that in 20 minutes his movement got himself 2 or 3 opportunities. The same happened in a champions league game at home this season. It just brought it home what we are missing a top notch Centre forward would get an absolute bagful for us.

the greatest striker Manchester city fans have seen

Sergio is special and will be the first to say its the team and players that find him that made him what he is a legend
always remember his first game swansea at home and that rocket from 25 to 30 yards that smashed into the net
you knew then we had a special player. lets all hope Sergio gets another 15 to 20 games to play this season because if he does city will be big winners

Undoubtedly it will have to be some kind of freak for his records to be broken! I saw a video of his goals from his 1st season a few days ago it was scary how good he was!

Quite possibly, easy mistake to make when all around are slagging us of for some misdemeanor or other.

Unless Sergio is given game time he will not get up to match fitness, but it will be difficult with every game being important we cannot take risks, he will have to stay on the bench and get as many minutes as possible coming on late in games, I hope he can get back, as he is simply the best goal scorer ever to play for City, and for me he can still do it if fit, time will tell.

This. The way he made space for himself effortlessly just like that between those two defenders is all his instinct. You can‘t teach that kind of stuff , it has to come from within.

Bang on on both counts with Foden and Sergio. Those runs by Sergio between their defence were there for all to see, it brought a smile to my face. He just lacked that match fitness sadly. But like the Sergio of old they were so direct, clever and well timed. Its something that Jesus just doesn't quite have in his locker in my book.

Hopefully just a matter of getting minutes into his legs , but what a player and the greatest striker ever to pull on a City shirt . He owes us nothing and if he stays great and if he goes I wish him every success.

I think/hope he just needs minutes in his legs. A true goalscorer never really loses it and is always worth having, just look at Suarez for Atletico this season. I’m sure Barca would rather have had him up top last night rather than watching Griezman and Dembele clowning around.
If Sergio can get back to match sharpness and accept a different role as befits his age and recent injury record then he is still very much an asset to this squad

It was definitely what commentators would call 'an enjoyable game for the neutrals'.

Let's face it... Southampton took us by surprise in the first 15 minutes and we were rocking a bit before KDB scored. That was a settler. If we had been playing Bayern last night, they'd probably have torn us a new arsehole by half time.

Obviously, we'd have torn Bayern a new one in the second half, but I'd prefer us not to be chasing games.

Pep will sort it.

i think we just werent used to a non-big team pressing us. And their press surprised our guys. Against Bayern, we'd have mentally expected the press. Southhampton plays like a continental team. They show respect to no one. I kinda dig that bravery.

No, let’s get this right....free kicks seen but not given.
Part of the agenda I guess....

As I said, I don’t criticise refs often because they have to make split second calls all the time. They are bound to get some wrong. I’ve no idea what ratio this should be, but I felt last night that Moss’ ratio was too high.

When Aguero ran on to that ball and made the keeper make a save for the corner at the near post, I had no doubt that Jesus would have cut back and not taken the shot on. It felt nice just seeing a bit of aggression and will to score from a central striker.

That's it, right. In any other context, you'd be pretty thrilled with that. But two away goals is a killer in Europe. I'm sure that Pep is explaining that to the lads.

if you add the 9 league games and fa cup and league cup final and champions league games it can add up to over 15 games he could get in

everton fa cup and then possibly 2 more games
one league cup final to play
one champions league knockout game then a possibly 5 more games

so 9 league games and possibly 10 cups games = 19 games. pep as to play him in all of them for me
get the last bit of his city career done then see what he wants to do in the summer

also a fit aguero playing 19 games can add up to a hatful of goals with his record a goal a game is not out of the question

First half think we were still suffering the derby hangover as we looked lost
Second half was better, pep must have told them, hey c'mon
We will improve from here im sure
Pep will sort it
