Ref Watch

Being picky I noticed Oliver played advantage to us when 1 of our players was flat out & the ball was in midfield. Having possesion is not always an "advantage".

Also noted Sian was also assistant last night for Utd ladies defeat. She also has another game tomorrow. Can you imagine the outcry by Klippity if his darlings had to play 3 games in 3 days

She only had to run up and down for 45 mins today as Everton didn’t leave their half of the field. She’ll be fresh for tomorrow.

Thought Oliver had a really good game today , only criticism was the lack of protection for Jesus, apart from that no complaints , he is definitely improving and showing more authority , the lack of crowds is helping his decision making , he used to be swayed by the home fans.

I wish all refs erred in the side of not giving a free kick when they aren’t sure. Once players realise squealing doesn’t automatically get you a free kick, they’ll stop doing it. Let the game flow more, like Oliver did tonight, and also the Russian ref in midweek.

Interesting to me was that both our goals were preceded by him playing advantage (the whistle in his mouth for the 2nd goal was for a foul on Jesus, not the Mahrez high foot issue).

Squealing and screaming is embarrasing for a grown man , should be a red card

I was once told by a PL ref to never put the whistle to your mouth if you do not intend to blow it as it leads to problems such as what we saw tonight. That advice came from one Mr Oliver.

Other than failing to recognise and award the honesty of Foden(which was a fine example of why most players throw themselves to the ground) and continually being duped by the shithousery of the **** Ricarlison.......Oliver had a decent game.

Correct. How are we better off having to play on with the bloke in possession surrounded by four midfielders than having the free kick? You know this cos you are a ref, but most pundits and commentators don't realise that you only play on if it is actually better for the team who should get the free kick to play on.

It's fuckwittage / open to manipulation. Take your pick.

A deafening silence. Which speaks louder than when they do try to explain a decision.
They don't always do that in matches but who decides when they should ànd how does he know what the ref is thinking? All seems dodgy to me

Not sure which game people were watching. We were mauled by the Everton players yesterday, freekicks not given. We look at one of theirs funny, they fall over. Free kick.
Repeated fouls not given yellow cards. No protection. The pattern has been set. We get few if any 50/50s. We win despite these guys not because of them (as Pep alluded to).

Gabby will have been black and blue after that. Fair play to the lad he does not give an inch, he is very brave and never lets physical intimidation put him off his game. He and Mina were at it all game.

I’d chuck in contentious corners as well. If two players challenged for the ball at their end of the pitch he gave them a goal kick, if it was our end of the pitch he gave them a corner, even if he was clearly uncertain of the decision.

Thought Oliver had a stinker, like Marriner before him allowed Jesus to get butchered, mainly because he has a reputation for retaliation, that is my view anyway, but our genius Manager predicted this, and he planed for Oliver to ignore foul after foul, in doing so could not give Everton the penalty they were desperate for, that is my theory and it fits right up to Fernandinho`s yellow card, what was that for, it could not be for excessive force after everything else that went on, Pep should ask for clarification.
