At least all of the famous Cornish landmarks are beyond the planning stage ;)Well said, Pablo. Whilst Devon and Cornwall have their charms, they have nothing to rival the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona or the Plaza de Espana in Seville.
Its not a huge hardship, I've never argued different even though my livelihood is directly affected and I'm losing an awful lot of money on a weekly basis.Oh yes and I will probably be one of them also, but still Im looking on it as an opportunity to see more of Scotland (drive the NC500) and revisit parts of Wales from childhood holidays. Its an inconvenience but not a particular hardship.
The disdain is towards people wanting to go abroad prematurely without due regard to other people. Slightly different.Whilst there is plenty I could say on the UK vs international holiday argument (there really shouldn't be an argument cos people can do what they want within the rule of law and the disdain shown towards people not interested in a domestic holiday is unnecessary), let's not forget that international travel does indeed support UK business.
I'm down to my last nowIs this a regular occurrence? If so, maybe it's time to consider bringing a spare pair or 2 when leaving the house in the morning?

That's made my day...The problem is that it is and will likely remain a fluid situation. even if you book last minute you could be caught out by a rule change on either travel or quarantine while you are away as happened to many last year. Employers seem to be wiseing up to this and making it clear that if you go away then any subsequent quarantine period is very much unpaid and at your own expense. We're probably just going to go somewhere crap like Wales or Scotland this year to spend 10 days or so in a tent and shitting in a bucket.
Yeah this. I was invited to a wedding in Liverpool last year (cancelled because of the pandemic) and was looking at hotels. I couldn't believe the prices. To be fair, it's the same all over Europe though if you want to stay anywhere in a vaguely touristy city. And prices I suspect.
Will they be any airlines left?Feel desperately sorry for people working in this sector
Looks like 2021 is going to be another write of for them.
Nowhere near as good as the Algarve’s but better than Spain’s ;-)You clearly havent been to cornwall or devon , the coasts and beaches are as good as anywhere you can go abroad

I've no issue with travel being banned for the time being, it's the correct thing to do in order to hopefully get some normality by the end of the year.
I just dont think people should be given a hard time because they are ranting about not being able fly abroad. I don't think they need reminding constantly that there are places in the UK that would make a perfectly good holiday. It's no exaggeration to say that for some, it's vital to their mental well being to get away to the sunshine.

out of interest who on this forum has said they are prepared to go on holiday prematurely without due regard to other people? The disdain is towards people wanting to go abroad prematurely without due regard to other people. Slightly different.

That is really prettyI was only jesting Karen. You're right of course that there are some beautiful places in the UK and some stunning beaches too (if only it was a bit bloody warmer!) I mean, I could have posted this one:

Beautiful emerald green waters, so Thailand perhaps? No, Scotland. Unfortunately the picture doesn't tell you it's like minus 5C.
Let's face it, it's not about the quality of the resorts or scenery in the UK, it's all about the reliability of the bloody weather.
Yeah, Scotland has some *incredible* beaches. If we can all just put out a *little* more CO2, they may become inhabitable within the next 50 years or so.That is really pretty
