Don’t see why. To get 4 that are good enough to be regulars in the first 11, or to be generous lets say the first 18, they really have to be exceptional players, probably internationals. So more than 4 is over 25% of our regulars when we can shop for the best in the world. We should be setting the bar higher. We have several good young players coming through and the aim should be to get as many of them to a standard that would allow them to get game time with us.
We should surely be able to have way more than 4 club trained players, going by the standard of the young players currently with us.
In reality, all we need to have is the best players in England.
The Champions league is a bit of a lottery and I don't like the idea of spending a load of dosh just to win that one trophy.
The teams that knocked us out in the last rounds of the Champions league did not have better squads.
I know the youngsters want to get to play with a 1st team and we should try and provide it.
I’d be surprised to get 4 expecting more than 4 is unrealistic as far as I can see.
Just look at our best prospects they seem to be nearly all midfielders. Are Foden, Macatee, Palmer, Doyle, Lavia ( not to mention the younger groups) all going to be regular enough to stay and compete with Bernardo Rodri, KDB for 3 or 4 places or are they talented to get other offers with good teams. Foden is established think we’ll be doing well if 2 of the others get enough games to stay.
