Strikers weve been linked with stats this season, Andre Silva surprises me going under the radar.

Haaland- 31 games played, 33 goals ,7 assists

Andre Silva- 26 games played , 22 goals 7 assists

Lukaku - 34 games played , 25 goals , 7 assists

Kane - 40 games played , 27 goals , 16 assists

Danny ings - 25 games played, 9 goals , 3 assists

Lautaro Martinez - 37 games played , 16 goals , 9 assists
interesting stat

Having not played for a year. I guess that’s a reason we aren’t linked with him, but worth monitoring in case he regains his form.

I think he did bad at Madrid due to the way Jovic plays hes a poacher mostly always in the penalty box. with brilliant finishing, the complete opposite to how Benzema plays. Could see him going to bayern in the future. Would take him at City would finish the chances we create in the penalty box

I think the real negotiation will only occur when there player says which club. Even more so if he refuses point blank to consider others. Imo this is all posturing by the various parties and no doubt the press want him to join there favoured clubs etc.

I only really mentioned him as there seems to be a dearth of good strikers between the ages of 20-27.

Haaland ticks all our boxes, but could be prohibitively expensive.

Kane and Lukaku are too old really for our MO, but are the next best strikers to buy, but again probably more expensive than we’d like.

Maybe that’s why we are linked with zings as he would be a relatively cheap, stopgap alternative whilst waiting for another striker to prove themselves

Yea seems like theres a wonderkid every year , Joao Felix , Jovic , Andre Silva , Haaland then teams panic and grab them and they dont turn out to be what they thought they bought.

But at the end of the day. How cheaply they actually expect to sign top striker?

If they expect one for £65m. we will be buying stop gaps for a while.

The board must be idiots if they are not happy with linking huge prices to us.

Shouldn't have let Aguero go then.
Mate, we are the best run football club on the planet. Post COVID many elite level clubs are screwed financially and there’s no way we’re inflating the market by flashing our cash around like some immoral loadsamoney character. If selling clubs are demanding precovid prices for players we’ll walk away and wish them luck. This isn’t a negotiating position, this is a major player in the transfer market laying down a marker and calling for some realism. This is leadership, both moral and practical, and if some other club wants to pay silly money for a striker let them. We have a brilliant manager who has already solved the no Sergio conundrum, Jesus can play there, KDB, Sterling, Foden, and we may even have a certain Argentinian who has played there many times. So chill out, relax, crack open a beer, and celebrate the fact that our club couldn’t be in better hands. In a few weeks we might be winning 1, 2, 3,4 trophies who knows, and we go into next season stronger than ever regardless of any transfer activity.

Totally agree, but it isn’t our MO to pay top dollar. Even Aguero wasn’t close to being a record fee.

If we are signing Haarland, then we are changing our process. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it seems different this year so far.

I think the issue is that there aren’t many good strikers out there at the moment. Especially ones suited to Pepball.

Not necessarily . I have no idea who we'll get, or what we'll spend but I wouldn't rule out £65 mill for a player I don't know anything about, or have even heard of being perfect for our system and turning out to be a bargain. Spending big money on a player we've all seen and know about is one way, great but it isn't the only way. That's why we employ the people we do, including Pep. One teams stop gap can be another teams bargain / materstroke.
