Covid and travel discussion

Staycation just means rip off prices and dubious weather.

I had this conversations today. The most expensive time of the year, Christmas and New Year, I could get a huge room in a four star hotel, half board for 85 Euro's a night in Tenerife. Good weather as good as guaranteed. I'd be lucky to get a tiny room with breakfast over here for that price, weather guaranteed 75/25 to be shit even in summer.

Times reports today that France, Italy, Greece and Spain are likely to be off limits until the end of June at least.

I received an email yesterday saying flight to tenerife was cancelled from Gatwick in october- same flight will now run from Heathrow. Lot of uncertainty ahead but as its a flight I paid for last year if it goes ahead I will book accommodation nearer the time

Sorry unless I've misunderstood, but yes 30 extra flights from Pakistan to the UK

My dad went on one Friday morning was shit all over the walls in the toilet plane trashed, he didn't step foot on the rest. Fucking shambles giving a country loads of notice to get plenty of flights in. All chatting shit saying they have funerals and weddings in Pakistan as emergency travel.

I've had a Marrakech moved from Gatwick to Heathrow as part of a BA holiday.
That's my get out clause so speaking with BA to cancel the holiday and get the deposit back.

Even if Morocco is fine to travel to by September, the cost of 2 tests for a 4 night trip to Marrakech just wouldn't make sense.

That's the real big sticking point at the moment; the cost of the PCR tests is really going to knock short breaks abroad on the head.

Yep and they went at the height of the cases in winter. Anyone who things getting abroad is a difficult at the moment is mistaken

Depending on the hotel you can often get a better deal in Tenerife going direct

Had tenerife booked for November.
Cancelled it yesterday, don't think I'll be vaccinated in time despite the fact I'm in my 40s and don't trust this government 1 bit with dates.
I think the vaccinated all adults by July line is absolute rubbish.

Couldn't you have stalled a while on this? Your age group will be up shortly.

Possibly but I don't believe a word this lot says anymore if I'm honest and I'm fed up of hearing about people in lower age groups getting vaccinated and posting it on social media.
