Covid and travel discussion

People have lost loved ones who they couldn't even spend their last hours with.

Some have died alone & lonely in care homes.

Some have been unable to see their nearest & dearest, some of whom have had virtually no human contact for a year.

Some have been seriously ill in hospital with no one there to comfort them.

Some are suffering debilitating long term effects from this awful disease.

Some people have lost their businesses.

Some have lost their livelihoods.

And in this thread we have people crying like babies and saying there could be riots because they won't be able to go on their holiday abroad for a while longer.

I think selfish, entitled wankers is the perfect description for them.
Well said Sire

If I was thinking along the same lines as some on this thread I'd take a good look at myself and I'd feel pretty fucking ashamed of myself for feeling that way.

Why ? I'm waiting till October or November, unless you are meaning what has been said in this thread earlier than what has been posted today ?

Everybody has been affected one way or the other mate, some more than others, but whilst we are still here,to enjoy is the only way forward.

It's aimed towards those saying there could be public unrest if these restrictions come into force mate.

If you all think one of the reasons behind the ‘holiday in the uk’ isnt money for the gov then you need to have a think.

remember cameron almost guaranteeing, nigh on promising, he had it off the top weathermen, that the uk summer was gonna be a scorcher so book a uk hol ...

it pissed it down all summer , but he got us spending our brass in blighty tho

well considering Europe is hitting a massive third wave and other countries after spiking - it’s hardly a conspiracy to think it’s probably just best to holiday in the UK this year

And if it’s all an agenda for money - then how about the billions the UK airline and travel industry are missing out on, not to mention the thousands of staff on furlough

Just booked a few hotels in August. Making a south coast trip, Chichester, New Forest, Avebury, Bath, Cotswolds. All hotels refundable but I can't see any issue.

Cancelled Ireland and the US. I'm not waiting for the middle of May to then be told naaaa...

Beautiful parts of the country anyway. Going to have a good explore.

Has anyone been watching these?? most beautiful scenic railway programmes, the uk has some stunning scenery especially when you travel this way, we really take things for granted in the uk I’m at an age I’d look out of place on a beach in my speedos:) not interested in clubs, etc but definitely want to explore the beautiful places of the uk more.

We always holiday in the UK. Mull in Scotland for two weeks at some point. Hopefully the Cotswolds this year for the first time.

But our main thing at the moment is considering whether to buy a caravan in North Yorkshire, which we could go to at any time, for a few days break.

We need to decide whether to buy now, or wait until the end of the summer season, when they might be cheaper.

Definitely. I retired 18 months ago and the wife retired 4 months ago. We are looking forward to exploring the UK a lot more in the coming years.

Edit. And in doing so, help in some small way to boost the UK economy.
