Stupid response. We have got ourselves into a position we haven't had before where we can concentrate on the cups whilst not worrying about the league. We have to use it and if that mean losing games like this then so be it

It's so daft. Team game. One man's strength makes up for another's weakeness, allows him to shine. Due to the changes we lacked leadership and presence and clinical finishing in attack. Not that confident on the left of defence. Not a shocker.

On another day, with a couple of other faces in the team, many of the players being attacked are exactly what we need.

The answer is that we cannot afford to rest any players until the league is won from now on if the rags close the gap. This was a game when you could argue on balance it was better to pick the side he did. Now at the end of next week we could be out of two cups so rotation won't be much of an issue then.
 
Whatever. On to the next. Not bothered about that performance, just tried a bit too hard, and it's understandable since the players benched for most of other games wanted to make an impact.

There were lots of poor performances today and it is wrong to single out Sterling. The problem is that his form has fallen off a cliff compared to his brilliance of recent seasons. The decline in Raheem and Bernardo has been shocking. They were our best players in 2018/19. It's the sharp decline in performance that makes them both stand out. To be honest I don't expect much more from Mendy and Ake based on what we have seen from them so far. It is not a shock when they play as badly as they did today.
