Chelsea - FA Cup SF | Post-Match Thread

If Kev is finished for the season I doubt we'll win the champions league. At this stage a world class player like him is often the difference. We therefore have to go all out for the league and next Sunday now. Two trophies and a champions league semi final isn't too shabby. Of course we could still win it but for me it would be a big ask. One hope is Aguero getting fit and finding some form. If he does he could still play a big part, sadly it's looking very unlikely.

A very tired performance both mentally and physically. Always likely to be a bridge too far this game against a well organised, more rested side. Unfortunately the same out of form players will be needed again, in the final against Spurs. Just hope de Bruyne injury is not as bad as it appears.

yes but how many games did city win without kdb ?

Cancelo has been poor for a month. Sterling has been poor for 6 months. Mendy has been poor for 3 years. Torres is not a right winger and if we're bloody honest Jesus isn't even our 2nd best striker. Fern and Rodri playing together makes us worse at pressing and not better at anything.

Can't imagine why we lost. At least no one important got injured....

Sterling's drop off in form is alarming. I can't recall ever seeing such a slump in any player. It's not even a lack of effort. He just looks shot to pieces. It's sad to watch. Confidence is a strange thing in sport. You see it when top golfers just get the yips and their form collapses. He was hiding on the pitch today. He just didn't want the ball. For all his flaws he used to be one of our hardest working players. Perhaps he is just burned-out.
Agree with you about his confidence. I think that is playing a big part in his lack of form. Problem is how long di we persist playing him in the hope he will come good. His form has been pretty bad all season.

The thing is I don’t believe anyone is getting pleasure out of Sterling’s drop in form. He looks totally shot. His confidence is plummeting game on game. Might be a good idea to rest him for the remaining games. Unless injuries force our hand.
No pleasure at all, the opposite, in fact.
It is traumatic to watch the ball just bounce off him these days. It doesn't even seem to be a problem that a goal or two can solve, either.

If we played like we did today even Southampton would've beaten us

Sometimes the quality of the opposition also has an impact on a teams performance. So the likelihood we would not have played like that against Southampton but more likely struggled against a side in the last 4 of the Champs lge
