Think it was always going to be a tough game and at this moment in time that front three is totally lacking in confidence and cohesion. Jesus, Sterling and Torres all have their merits but right now it isnt happening for them and playing them all together is optimistic.

Really hope KDB isn't as bad as some are suggesting.
 
Hard what to make of Mendy. Annoyance or pity? Seeing him ambling back and not getting goalside for the goal (and then looking absolutely lost for the disallowed second) and you either think he CBA or is just finished as a footballer.

Raz will come good again as his confidence will return but Mendy looks finished as a footballer

Changes needed to be made. Youd have played the same team as the one v Borussia ?

Dias was sluggish, Mendy isnt as good in defence as Zinchenko , Laporte was excellent Kev was sluggish, So was Rodri . Fern great again. Sterling isnt in form ,should have done better. Jesus did his best without any support and no cutting edge. What could Torres do against a 5 man defence? He should have been better but there was no one to get the ball into.
They were content to sit back and hit us on the break. It was working but that one chance they buried and Mendy should have covered his man but didnt. I think Laporte wasnt happy with him . Look at the replay.
In fact we had pushed up too much for their goal and we hadn't done that in the first half if I remember correctly.
No penetration today and thats the concern. Where was a goal going to come from ? We would have been happy enough with penalties it seems.
Villa will play similarly Wednesday but its up to us to penetrate and create down the flanks and through the middle with men arriving into their box.
 
We should forget what happened tonight. The real problem here is Kev’s potential injury. It could hurt us on so many levels.

We'll be fine without him. Personally, despite his great quality, I think we often function better as a team with Bernardo, Rodri and Gundogan as a 3.

i think pep and city got fooled in this city can win all 4 ? sorry it was never possible with the so called strikers we have and aguero leaving and some how picking up injuries sitting on the bench
 
This was just one game too many in a very congested schedule. Utter shite that Soton/LCFC are playing on Sunday after a mid-week off. Chelsea getting an extra day didn’t help either.

The entire team looked lethargic today and they were letdown by the rested players not making any runs to open up space. Furthermore, inaccurate passing through the midfield stalled any build-up. I suppose it was bound to happen.
