Has someone messed with my calendar and it's actually April the 1st? This whole thing is surreal.

It's probably just a tactic for leverage with UEFA, but perhaps the big clubs have just decided that they don't need them anymore.

If it happens and the English clubs involed are allowed to stay in the PL, then the drawbridge is well & truly up and anyone else will find it virtually impossible to break in.

I'm ashamed and a bit disgusted that we are involved in this, but perhaps the club thought that if they don't get involved they are finished anyway. It may turn out to be a good thing for City but if it happens I won't be following them anymore.

I feel like the club, which generations of my family have followed, has been snatched away from us. We have become what I despised about the rags

Unfortunately it's not. City have left the European clubs association and are officially no longer a member of UEFA.

no way back now.

As such, we've forfeited the CL and qualification for it next year too.

And you think this super league lot are any better?
They can start fresh. And they have the owners and executives up front. They aren't hiding endless corruption behind friendly well known faces like Platini, Rumennigge, whoever. UEFA is a massive gravy train. It only protects 'the structure' of football in as much as it wants to retain complete control and authority. They absolutely have no interest in the grass roots except they keep it all under the same umbrella and that's what gives them total authority and a 'moral' case for their authority.

Tbh 3 points at villa is all I care about. No way will the premier ditch its golden goose. It will all settled down and uefa will exit the stage. It does not mean it right but it can’t be stopped.
Think you’re right. The PL will have to compromise and allow the 6 clubs to stay in. Far too much to lose by making them leave. Sad but true

And that shows clearly why we were unable to support UEFA. They will relish the chance to eject us from the CL. I am not backing the ESL plans in their current format but, unlike some on here, I have not suddenly decided that UEFA are the best thing since sliced bread. This whole issue has been caused by the despicable corrupt leaders of UEFA. We have done a deal with the devil but no one has yet suggested what the alternative was. We couldn't have carried on in the CL with their absurd proposals which would have also devastated domestic football. I am willing to wait and see how all this shakes out over the next few days.

UEFA was acting under pressure to shut us down from the same clubs who’s competition we’ve now willingly joined; we now dance to the cartel’s tune.

Once the dust is settled they’ll be plenty of city fans watching these games! I remember the first ever premier game Monday night pomp pomp girls the the razzamataz yep at that time I was excited by it! That’s when football changed there was no going back!
I have no doubt that we will come out of it all ok and when it all kicks off, the majority of us will still be watching and arguing on here about how poor X player is performing etc etc.

It’s the other clubs that won’t be ok. What are they playing for exactly? They will have a fraction of the money of the 6 clubs involved, so unlikely to ever seriously challenge for titles. Those like Leicester and this year West Ham, are fighting tooth and nail to finish top 4, to play in the CL - no point in them doing that in the future because Arsenal, who have just finished below them, are founder members and ring-fenced in the new competition.

The clubs involved have decided that 100+ years of domestic competition is something worth selling for the right price.
