If this ever happens I’m done with elite football.

‘There would be among 15 permanent founding members and five other clubs, who would qualify on an annual basis’

yeah. Fuck off

- The remaining 15% would a “commercial share based on club awareness”

- A cap of 55% of revenues permitted to be spent on salaries and transfers (net)

- A ‘Financial Sustainability Group’ would monitor clubs’ spending

hahahahaha fucking hell so transparent. So this is their next attempt to stop us

We’ll be kicked out over our spending as soon as it begins. Worth remembering most of these clubs wrote to UEFA complaining about us.
I can see our owners don't want to be left behind, but the 'rules' in the first quote above show that the actual cartel just want to suck us into a position where they can fuck us over properly.

The club has been here before back in the 90s with the Premier league. The big 6 got a bigger share of the tv money than the other founding members of the premier league which wasn’t exactly fair. There would have been opposition to that but reluctantly we have to be inside the tent.
If you were Mansour and Khaldoon the bottom line is you protect your asset. Saying no would have left the invite going elsewhere.

The thing I can’t get my head around is the 6 invites for the premier league clubs being more than what other countries got. What must Atletico Madrid be thinking who have been mainstays in getting to the latter stages of the champions league over the last few years. Everton building a new stadium and showing some ambition, should they even bother now as it won’t see top level European football.

It’s scary our owners have jumped into bed with the Glazers and Fenway sport. They cannot be trusted and this super league will make sure it benefits them more than it does us.

Yes poor old lickle City forced into a corner by the American cabal. It is about time we accepted were just as bad.

Utterly disgraceful. I’m ashamed to be a blue this morning.

what’s the point of next week’s cup final as the club are saying the tournament is dead to them?

Ditto the CL semi...but we will pocket a few quid so let’s pretend to our fans that it means the world to the club.

Its clear that this is a seismic shift and its going to get messy - at leats thats what I hope to scupper the whole plan

But - and this gets hypothetical, - if the remnaining PL clubs can be persuaded to vote out the Big 6, then are the contracts of the players voided on the basis of restriction of trade, ie they won't be playing at a high enough standard on a regular basis,

Thats a massive risk for the Big 6 clubs

It’s ruined this season.

I now don’t care whether we win or blow the title, whether Spurs beat us 1-0 in the 93rd minute with a Dias own goal after them having no shots next week, or that we get humiliated over two legs by Paris.

I just don’t care!

Exactly my point. At least we were knocked out of the f.a cup in a game of football. One less to ruin.

Has any manager/player of any of the 12 made any comment on this corporate carve up yet? Or has the biggest story in world football seen then gagged?

just some idle speculation... but from the lack of enthusiasm on display on Saturday at Wembley, was it known to them at that point?

Solskjaer after their game last night said he was unaware of the situation

I can only think the reason City are in this is to call a bluff, City want more power over money I’m sure, with the FFP trying to dictate owners with what they can spend I think this is a stance and has been spoke about for a while, that’s why they have ‘reduced the meaning of FFP’ I have a feeling it won’t go ahead and it is purely trying to grab power back

I have no interest in watching City play in an ESL - zero - wouldn't even change the channel on the TV to watch it, certainly won't be paying for the new ESL package from whichever broadcaster makes the pitch

Hopefully this can be killed off pretty quickly - the rest of football which aren't part of the club can say OK, you twelve can run your own mini-league, you are thrown out of all competitions and any players taking part in that league are banned from any other football, enjoy the money while it lasts

with the 51% rules in Germany I'd say it was unlikely that any of their clubs will ever join

Saves the club money on upgrading the ground as I don't think many true City fans will be on board with this abomination of an idea
Exactly.it isn't a super league ! Many if the current best teams in Europe won't be in it.

Let's face it, City didn't have their arm twisted, they jumped into bed with the very same individuals who have tried to fuck us for years.

I'm absolutely stunned and ashamed my club were party to this, but the fact it's spearheaded by the Glazers and that virulent **** Perez is, without a doubt, evidence that this is simply not my club any more.

There's still time for this all to be negated, I think, but the damage has largely been done.

I dont mind it, as long as it kills off uefa off, PL are only fucked off because they are in the pockets of uefa

It’s announced now to head off UEFA’s own CL reforms which are confirmed today. Could this just be a huge game of bluff forcing UEFA to change the CL to something these 12 clubs would prefer?

No way, no way back, damage is well and truly done, the only thing left now is to persevere with it. Any U-turns or changes would be worse for the clubs than sticking with it now.

This is 30 years in the making and certainly shouldn't be a shock. It makes me reflect on what I've actually been following, as a sport, since the early 80s.

Because the cartels, the massive commercial contracts, corruption, greed and soulless branding is where we are already. This is the next level, true, and merely makes me reflect on how I've been spending my time.

2 non football fans have said to me this morning; " I don't understand what's so different". It made me think.
It’s a natural progression, we were always heading here weren’t we? Maybe we didn’t want to think about it, but here we are. I have a feeling the younger generation will just accept it. Let’s be honest, if this had been brought in 30 years ago it would have failed, but that’s when it started. It crept up on us oldies while we naively accepted every little ‘improvement’ and ‘progress’ while doing nothing. It’s not over yet either, eventually the club could effectively based elsewhere.

Yes poor old lickle City forced into a corner by the American cabal. It is about time we accepted were just as bad.
And that's part of the betrayal. We thought we were different, we thought the owners understand us, they didn't, they don't, they sold the club to jump into bed with our enemies

I’ve woken up this morning and I thought positively about this for a few minutes. I’ve asked myself a few questions and the first that came to mind was - Could we afford to not be in this? The answer was no. I feel we need to be in this for the future if the club.
Secondly, after UEFA have fucked us over so many times (or tried too) is it any surprise we have decided to leave and join this new league - again the answer is no, not surprising at all. I keep answering questions and they all point in the direction that I’m not surprised by this at all, with the clubs interests at heart it makes sense, and I voted “no” in the poll attached to this thread.

For me, the part that stinks the most, how will Leicester and West Ham be feeling this morning? In the season they have broken the mould and put in class performances to threaten the “top 4” and worked their socks off, and potentially all for nothing - we grew up to be better than this and should have fucked the new idea off. City have changed, it’s not an overnight process but this is the final straw for many, probably myself included

Yup, you might feel that your club is being a "fondling member" (fnar fnar) but you are not, there are details of this that limit the power that helped you get a leg up.

This deal is in spite of you, not for you.

You`re not telling us something we don`t know.

Knowing the ramification for your team and as unpalatable as it is, would you do stay within UEFA or join this new Super League if Leicester were invited.

As I said in my post earlier. My real line in the sand is the closing of the new league to promotion and relegation.
