The US banks wouldn't be pumping billions into it if they didn't think so. The ESL will dwarf anything gone before it.
Having WhatsApp my friends golf group today, all City or Rags there's not one who will pay to watch on TV and out of 14 of us who go to games not one will pay. I can't see it going ahead.

Let us translate that now:

We, the 12 clubs, will get infinitely more money and we will buy all the good players from the sorry clubs who are not a founding member. But hey you are getting money right? So football is saved I guess..

Also did I mention that this is kind of permanent where we, the 12 fucking clubs, are always safe regardless of how incompetent the club is run. Bad luck to the rest of you suckers.
It’s right that this twat is wearing a mask.

It was going there anyway under Khaldoon, or anyone else. LOok at the top 6 clubs. They are all involved. ALl the clubs are the same. The Evertons and West Hams would have accepted like a shot and the Premier League and Champions League are all completely money oriented.

We're not supporting a football club now that represents a City and a people, we're supporting a brand a customer experience.

Fed up with it all and thishas triggered me basically because I am tired. The CAS/UEFA spat was draining and here we are starting down that route again.

yep same here, absolutely fucking tired and fed up of these constant battles. The Uefa/CAS scrap started in about October 2018 and took UEFA until Feb 2020 to kick us out. Obviously we won our appeal in June 2020 after being branded cheats. But there has seldom been a period of calm all the way back to Franny Lee take over battle. Owners with assets frozen, previous chairman paying wages etc etc now this mother of all shitshows. When you throw in VAR, all seater atmosphere free stadiums, a pandemic, players earning in a week what it would take me or you ten years to earn it makes you wonder if it’s all worth it.

I honestly don’t think we’re going to back out. The money involved is just to good to turn down for our owners.
I hope they have got good security as I feel this could get ugly. People have put up with a lot of shit this last 12 months with COVID etc and I imagine that taking away our bread and butter may push a few over the edge and be the final nail in the coffin.

Hello all. Lyon fan here. I have a question, if you may. Why the fuck did your club jump into this giant mess ? I mean, you didn't have any interest to join, and you would be way more comfortable with the like of Bayern and Psg , playing the good guys. You don't have money issues like the debt full Spanish, so what happened ?
Because the other 5 biggest clubs in our league were doing it and we didn't want to miss out. If the 5 top German or French teams were involved, don't think for a second that Bayern or PSG wouldn't have joined them.

From a City supporting POV, I didn’t think it could get any worse than sweating on that CAS appeal last year, yet our club has managed to somehow Top Trump that. Typical City eh?
This time we've got Real Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool, SPurs, Arsenal, Chelsea with us. We aren't going to be ruined. I'm saddened though that the game i loved has gone.

Seems to be like PSG and Bayern were set to join but have got cold feet because of the backlash.

City were the last to join and it seems pretty clear we were hesitant to do so.

I think the plan from the board is, we can have more of an influence from the inside than on the outside.

It’s clear the club has no love for UEFA, and being part of the SL gives us more leverage over them to make sure we get treated fairly in the future.

I don’t expect City to play in the SL.

No but we only did that in one season. The fact that fans of other clubs like to make out we were like that for years doesn't make it true.
Oh I agree, though we were pretty bad for most of the 80s and 90s, and that was our own (chairman’s) fault. But we had the opportunity to put it right over time, on the pitch. Closed franchise leagues strangle that opportunity and that dream at birth

listen i completely understand this, and why as a man city fan i dislike the idea of the ESL. I truly love the way football has a system based on staying competitive and sticking to your team when they are down

but that can equally apply to fans of teams here in the US. I have been a hockey fan my whole life, lived and died with the NY Rangers. Ive seen much more disappointment then i have seen championships. which is something that man city fans can understand

Fair enough, I don't know the first thing about hockey and I can imagine it's grating when the default stance for a lot people here is to disparage everything to do with America.

Money. That is why every owner is involved in Premier League football. There are financial returns to be had. am not sure what we have now is much better because UEFA absolutely screwed Manchester City because we threatened Manchester United and Liverpool. It's all economic interest backed up with politics, and sham such as financial fair play which is just a tool to screw a rival club who has less sponsorship revenue than you have.
Okay, i get that some rival club can be desesperate when they see a rival catching up. And by trying everything to stay in the top, they may create this monstruosité. But ... in this scenario, you re the one on the rise, and you owner shouldnt feel the need to take any risk in this pandemic period.

Isn't it great that we have now cut UEFA out?

Is this going to turn into the most 'Typical City' moment of all time? Just as we are on the brink of a fantastic season, and with some of our main rivals...scum, Real, Barca...struggling under mountains of debt, we throw them the lifeline of signing up to this complete shit-show which looks designed to solve their financial issues, wiping out any advantage we hold over them. At the same time we become national pariahs and anything we do manage to achieve this year will be completely ignored (or even possibly deleted from history if some people have their way). Well done City

5 biggest club ? What is arsenal is doing here exactly ?
