This actually happened in European basketball with the formation of the Euroleague. Can any basketball fans explain what the fall out was from that> Has it worked? I understand it is on a much smaller scale than what is proposed here, but it is an interesting case study.

You'd have to find a fan of European basketball first, think you've got a better chance of bumping into Khaldoon in Asda ;)

It’s because Levy was one of the principal instigators of the idea.
He realised this was the solution to Spurs financial problems and convinced the Spanish clubs to join in once they hit the financial buffers. The rest is history....

its been said numerous times.

its the brain child of Real Madrid and the 3 american owned teams in red that play in the PL.

You can “kill it” for the 6 playing in this country and tie them up in so much red tape that it’ll make it impossible for them.
Tax and work permits are 2 very simple ones and they could change laws to make it even harder, knowing they’ll get the backing from the rest of football.
Easy votes.
Stadium licensing, safety certificates etc. Club ownership rules. Loads of ways to kill it if the political will is there

Never liked Basketball from the day I walked onto a court at 11 years old where a senior team were playing, all I could take away that day was the smell of sweat, dirty bastards:-).

And it's still there as well.....
I don’t see that tweet as going against the grain, if anything, I see it cementing our position..

Pep says we’re waiting to hear more from committee but I’m behind my football club (I’m not saying that’s what Pep meant but the quote reads that way)

Gun point?
I doubt it.

We've done the wrong thing, crossed a line of our own free will.
And will suffer the consequences or reap the benefits.
Neither we nor Chelsea were part of this deal - originally.

Our - and Chelsea's - biggest mistake - is misjudging just how unpopular the Superleague would be. Instinct told both clubs not to participate - but under pressure both clubs agreed to join.

Rue our management on these terms if you will - but it's miles apart from the complicity of the owners of the scum and of the scouse - who were -and are - 100% backers of the Superleague.

Haha, quite.

It's popular in Greece and Spain I believe, just interested to know how it impinged upon the domestic leagues and do they play their full teams for domestic games or rest for the SL.
