The photos thread

Marvellous.

I love some of the comments below the video....

Behind the humour lies a nostalgic truth of a bygone era. Loved it. Saturday afternoon was football. Were it still thus..

This sketch evokes everything I love about the game of football.

Bleakness is what makes a ground. Gives it its working-class character.

Funny yet very, very true. I miss Saturday afternoons and the sound of the vidiprinter at 4:45pm.

They managed to create genuine poetry here. Throw in some wrestling on TV and you're sorted

Brings a shiver to the spine. Saturday afternoon is football. :)

Spot on. I remember when I was 7 or 8 looking forward to the FA cup final so much. City vs Leicester City, no prejudice against us then. Coverage must have started about 10.am on BBC, they would have FA cup themed football quiz, fa cup themed celebrity doing stuff. Brilliant. Boiled ham rolls for tea and a bag of crisps. I used to write the teams in a note book and mark down every free kick and throw in. I remember doing that for the WC final in 66. When I wasn't watching I would be in the back vennel kicking a ball against the garage door. Left foot then right foot, for hours. Football is tightly interwoven through the fabric of many of our lives and we will take that to the grave. To me, the 60's and 70's was a golden age for football. I have obviously enjoyed the last 10 years and will for ever be grateful to our owners but the baggage that comes with football these days is very destructive and kills the simple joy of the game.
Christ I must be getting old :-)
