Message from a Sunderland fan

You must not have gone to Roker Park back in the day then
,Why on earth you think they belong in the Premier bet they cant even beat York lol
I must admit i have a soft spot for them .Had a good drink and a laugh with them when they got a draw with us on there way to win the Fa Cup .bloody hell it nearly 50 years ago .
Wrong I did go to roker in a midweek game lost 1-0 and it was freezing.

Watching City the other night is like watching a different sport to my lot at Sunderland. I hope the long term Maine Road lot are lapping it up.
These are truly special times mate. I'll never forget the decades of dross, relegations & nearly going bust that we had to put up with, so I appreciate every second of what we're now living through & witnessing.

Sunderland are a proverbial sleeping giant, & hopefully you'll be back in the PL before too long & enjoying the success your fans deserve. Posts like yours make me proud to be a Blue, but also keep me grounded, as it only feels like yesterday that Nicky Weaver saved a crucial penalty at Wembley against Gillingham which promoted us to the Championship. Without that win, we might have slipped into football oblivion....

Hold your head high. Proper fans. I love the guy on the phone video posted again earlier when the score came through and he said ‘that’s a proper kick in the nuts that is...’ It’s one of the heftiest kicks in the bollocks in the history of sport. The fact all the Sunderland fans around him had stayed till the end and and were clapping their team after a one nil defeat speaks volumes. Keep the faith.

Be a long time before we rear our heads again.

We know how that feels mate. It ain’t over to the fat lady sings and you’ve still got a chance with the playoffs - you’ve just hit a bad form at the wrong time.

I remember my first trip to the Stadium of Light, was a night time game we won 3-0 I think. Was taken with the big fuck off bunsen burners you had!! Cracking place, great bunch of fans

Remember in the 90s playing Sunderland last game of the season when we sent them down (think it was 3-2 and an amazing game). Brilliant atmosphere, loads of Sunderland fans in the Kippax that day which i wasn't used to as a kid but not a hint of trouble. Remember how good the Sunderland fans interacted with the City fans that day in what could of easily got very nasty and always stuck with me.
