Paris Saint-Germain (H) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

I think the penalty actually helped us as Kuipers recognised he’d been had by PSG players.

From then on, he didn’t give anything that he wasn’t sure about as a foul, Foden’s shouldering aside.
Gave us time to re group and organise. I thought that was their first mistake.

performance of the night was from Fernandinho in not getting booked. Even by his standards he pushed his luck tonight! I don’t know how he does it, but I like it!
If possible, he would surely be worth keeping for another season!
Mr. Half-a-foul

Still overjoyed after last night. But it just hit me. IF we win the CL. Will Pep still have the drive to take us to another level? Will the hunger be still there? Or will he feel that he has achieved everything?

I really hope it won't hasten his departure. I don't want the Pep era to end anytime soon.

I can't see Pep leaving any time soon apart from health reasons. He is vocal - and usually without prompting - about his love for the club, the ownership, the players and fans and, more still, what the ownership is trying to accomplish (as if it is more - and it most certainly is - than just winning).

Having said that, as much as I would hate it, if we win the ***************** (redacted for anti-jinx purposes) and he wanted to move on to a new / different challenge I would send him off with well-wishes. I think he has become so firmly enmeshed with the culture of City that no matter where he goes or what he does he will always be "family."

If they had somehow got themselves into a winning position the cheating would have been off the scale.
Fortunately for us as they were chasing the game they didn't want to fuck about too much.
It's sad that teams with plenty of talent go down this path but justice was done in the end.
Apparently they are reporting the Ref for swearing at two of their players, the fucking big mardy arses

The sweet irony of being in the champions league final whilst not being the reigning champions has broadened my smile a little more this morning

This crossed my mind. Has he a gentleman's agreement to go if he lifts the big one? Will he want to go on a high?

I certainly hope not given the new contract and the fact that it's all downhill from here.

Let's sign Mbappe when he goes free but I would get a pacy tall striker when Agüero leaves , would you?
My choice is Haaland, if Raiola plays ball. 100mil + Sancho clause removed + wages just under Kevins is fine for a 20 year old. If they want 30mil sign on, 500k wages etc, we'll look elsewhere.

PSG have the 2 most expensive players in the world but they do not play like a team. We need someone who matches our ethos.

I know what you mean but there is something special about this guy. I get the impression, and that is all it is as I don’t know him or anyone at City, that he feels at home at City as much or maybe more so than he Did at Barcelona.

There’s a touch of the anarchist about our beautiful bald genius. A sense of one who takes the side of the underdog in all things and you only have to read and listen to the filth and racist garbage that is regularly spouted about God’s own team to see that City will always be , if not the underdog exactly, then the ‘middle child’ of the football hierarchy.

I think beating the establishment runs in Pep’s blood and there is no better club to do that at than City.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him still at City in another 5 years.
I’m with you on that.
The plan here has been to build a dynasty.
Why would Pep want to leave just when it’s all coming together?
Where else could he go that would give him the tools?
He absolutely loves it here and is amongst friends at the club.
He’s a winner and winners like winning.
He has built a team that can dominate Europe for at least 5 years given the ages of many players and will want to be there to reap the rewards.
Extension more than likely...I hope!

Pep has unfinished business with you. Not just one CL, but a few to put you up there with teams who dominated for a few years. He is at the right place and like you cannot see where else would be better. I think he will stay but he prepared for the press saying he will move on 8f you win in Turkey. It's a fucking cert of wishful thinking.

Good point, but let's go and win it first, then worry about that.

Hopefully he will want back to back Champions League titles before he says adios.

I think he will want to prove that you can compete for the league cup, FA cup, premiership title, champions League AND the FIFA world club cup in one season just to rub klippy klopps nose in it royaly

The only fear I have is Mrs Guardiola is currently living in Barcelona. Her business is based there, it's home & there was a no fly ban in place when she went over to visit, so decided to stay until it was lifted.

Is she & the kids back yet?

Not a chance in hell he is going anywhere, he is a fiercly principled and loyal man, he gets us and can see the agenda thats being driven against us through the football authorities and media which will only strengthen his resolve to succeed with us, he’s a fierce Catalan rebel who fights injustice and i think he parallels that with working with City, he has everrthing he needs to succeed here and that will just drive him on to more and more success.

Pep has nothing to prove to that bully boy anytime soon.

Just really fucking proud. Of the team, of the coaches, of the club, of everyone involved. Seasons like this one don't happen because of 11 players or one manager. They happen because of a squad of 25 and a backroom staff of a dozen and a support staff of even more.

Manchester City Football Club.

Is that right? when Pep was annoucned as our Manager I'm sure it was because someone leaked that he'd been looking around schools.
