Penalty Taker

Who should take penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch?

On the plus side. We haven't got the worst conversion rate in the league. We're second worst. After Fulham.

no fucking guessing about but just smash the fucking ball as hard as you can as if you were shagging the hottest bird on the planet.

Its strange but when we had yaya on pens i never thought he’d miss & he didn’t!! nowadays i never expect us to score from one!! Chelsea to play for pens in final should be their perfect tactic unfortunately :-/
Generally when watching City I've always expected us to miss and the opposition to score, these days it's a collective groan when one is awarded....no doubt we would have missed again if awarded a second one yesterday.
Ya Ya and Mario always looked confident. One of the best non City penalty takers I remember was Ray Stewart for West Ham in the early 80s, he would just bloody 'twat it' from memory.
Funnily enough we do have a very good record in shoot outs but I think since the last one (Chelsea at Wembley 2 years ago) we have got collectively more incompetent at them haven't we!!

This is the last thing penalty taker should do. It sounds like a smart move but it isn't. These are professionals they know how to score. Smash and hope is recipe for miss or save imo.

They should have a spot picked out that is hard for the keeper to stretch and stop. Along the ground or above waist height. And to strike with confidence and pace yes. Waist height to a foot above ground is the worst placement for PK as keeper has more chance to get a glove on in the dive across. I also don't like down the middle as keepers can stop with trailing legs.

You should have a set penalty taker. Seeing as we don't, in my opinion the best strategy is to let the one who was fouled take the penalty. Giving the ball off to another is a mistake.

Ray stewart was a hard into the side netting merchant.

all the best pen takers have always put pace on the ball.
the ones that rely on the goaly going the wrong way always come un stuck eventually

How many pens has Kun scored and missed in his time at City does anyone know?

Was never good at them
I don’t know his record? But for a genuine world class striker & finisher like he is/was, he seemed to have missed alot of pens for us? & also scored quite a few lucky ones!! was never confident with sergio

I thought we'd sorted this out with KDB... but for some reason he seems reluctant to take on the job

It's difficult to have a set penalty taker when our team is rotated so much. Saturday we were without Gundo and KDB who've all taken recent penalties and Mahrez who, after his last one, would have almost certainly taken the next. That said, it really shouldn't have mattered because Sergio was on hand, unfortunately he made a poor decision. They all should, and probably do. have the necessary ability to score from 12 yards out with only the keeper to beat what none of them appear to possess is the mental strength to do it 9 times out of 10. It's become a bit of a poisoned chalice now and maybe players are seeing it as an opportunity to miss rather that an opportunity to score.
