I'm going to quietly note that I have a big question mark in my mind over the long term prospects of outstanding young strikers noted for their feats of strength. Rooney. Adriano. And many, many others falling far short of that. They have an explosiveness in them at that age that can turn into a leaden quality all to quickly.
Defenders and coaches don't know how to deal with new strikers at first. And moreover, goalscoring is a confidence game. Anyone can look a genius in the middle of their breakout season. Rooney never topped his first tournament, did he. Bumping older guys around for fun, and then, slow death as he turned out to be a shite goalscorer. Michael Owen done at 26. And those two are miles ahead of many other examples. Alan Smith. Andy Carroll. Ronaldo. Injuries, loss of form, loss of freshness. Not being the suprise package, not being the cherry on the cake, not being feared, different team, different situation.
Seriously. Something in my mind is screaming at me. Strikers with the best pedigree look a bit different, and often take time to emerge.
He's worth 100m, possibly. No more. No way. Not at this stage.
