Spanish media again last night saying that Madrid will get mbappe this summer and already have a yes from Haaland to join the following summer

Which players though

Ake maybe

Ake would be the most palatable, as we could again assure Laporte of plenty of games on the left side.

We would be very unlucky to lose both Stones and Dias at the same time to not have cover for both sides.

£70m plus Ake would be a steal.

Thing is I think this all coming from the Kane side, this doesn't sound or look like city have put anything out, I think this is his agent or rep's putting out a come and get me plea

It’s amazing to me that people believe the Spanish media

I just find it really funny how they are dead financially but then their media will put out that they can sign Mbappe and Haaland that Madrid are their first choice.

Because it sells

I also don’t think City will be happy with this circus coming out before UCL final

When does the transfer window open, what with talk of deal for Kane being done before the Euro's?

Just spitballing, but can't shake the timing of this Kane stuff?

I don't see the leak as a Hail Mary from Kane, certainly with a deadline being floated of the Euros, his role as England captain being overshadowed by a month-long circus.

His preferred destination is City and he must have been given enough encouragement it can be reciprocated.

It's actually the easiest of all the deals to get done because Kane doesn't want to play abroad, Spurs have less leverage than they had two years ago, he wants to win now.

Pep is also a confirmed admirer/there are players who could easily be involved in the equation.

I've tried gaming it out, but the obvious is Kane, as I don't think we would lie to him purely to give Haaland/Dortmund such a time sensitive shove?

It begs questions which we don't yet know the answers to, Haaland isn't moving this summer/Dortmund are emboldened because they will sell Sancho/Haaland is too expensive/not committed.

All that is predicated on a) it being true in the first place, that he has formally notified them he wants to leave, b) thatbhe or his camp leaked it, and c) that he has to have a good idea where he is off to and what he can agree to, to feel he wants to leave and to make that public.

For me, a)has been denied, which is as expected regardless, and thebtiming can both make sense and not make sense depending on who wants to argue what. b)guess we might never know where it came from. the speculation has been around, it is nothing new.
c)Even assuming a and b are true, indont see why it has to be that advanced for him to get this out in the media now. It is so early and there are ao many ways back, it could simply be a way to weigh up interest and offers he would get, could be a moment of frustration and needing to get it out before the season is over, or could indeed be as you say, there is more and clear signals from the club. To me the timing makes that the least likely, surely our own club wouldnt want that out this early, and also aheaad of the CL final, and a game tonight. A lot of questions and distracrions, doesnt change anything woth levy until closer to the window.

We don't put anything out though so you can't read anything into that. Sounds more like he's making it easier for Spurs to say 'we had no choice but to sell'.

Getting the players to do the work is a City thing to do i.e. Sterling.

I suspect the CL confirmation for Dortmund means Haaland is off the table so we've gone to plan B. Which of course means we have to rely on Kane staying fit as we won't ever see Haaland in a City shirt if the Kane deal goes ahead.

I think we aren't in the race for Haaland, Kane wouldn't have come out with all this without having some assurance and at this point I just don't see anyone else in the race. The Rags would have been but they just extended Cavani coincidentally till Haalands clause. Some have put Chelsea in the race, but where does that leave Werner.

All very valid points, but Kane is the England captain going into a major European tournament, the circus that would involve, etc...

Desperate men do desperate things, and it could well be a last desperate attempt to force the issue in his favour this summer.

However, there was zero need for the leak to stress he only wants to remain in England. For me, that would be stupid because it loses him leverage to maximise his salary demands.

It smacks of a player who already knows the identity of club that will be picking up the phone to negotiate with his present employer very soon.
