Brighton (A) | Post-Match Thread

You are absolutely right but I still find it hard to watch us getting fucked the way we were tonight. It completely takes any enjoyment out of the game.
Have to agree but it makes the end game all the much better on reflection , we still stuff it up them despite the bent officials.

As Moomba said if this ref is that bad he should be in the Sunday comps , he must have been paid extra for this garbage he threw up and Pep and Potter both know it.

Rodri fucked the game up for us tonight, cruising at 2-0 then immediately after our second plays the shittest back pass imaginable and they score from it. That turned the match completely, piss poor from him.
Not the first time he's done this, it's a worrying side of his game

Perhaps we should play Garcia but tell him that Barcelona have phoned and that the deal is off unless he is man of the match,
Clevers. Top idea. Slight flaw in that it’s a bit like being Buster Phillips and hearing Squeaky Alan Ball tell the media that you’re going to be the first British £10m player. He was loaned to Scunthorpe I remember before returning to Exeter.

A minor stat thing: Is Phil's goal today probably the farthest from the goal a city player started and scored a goal all by himself?
Can't answer that, but it was one of the goals of the season, that will be overshadowed by the result, and one of the worst officiated football matches I have ever witnessed - and I've seen a fair few in my time

I agree he's had a fine season but Rodri's fuck up was the reason they won. At two up we just needed another 10 minutes of control and they'd have given up and the crowd would have been a non-factor. THat gift got them believing and the crowd right behind them. Rodri gives it straight to Trossard and then stands in shock making no attempt to get back and atone for his error. Dreadful error.

Play was restarted with a throw to them so presumed it was a foul throw-in from us. Lino seemed to be indicating foot was off the floor.
Nonsense. He didn't flag for a foul throw. He gave a foul against Bernardo. Goodness knows what he thinks he saw to tap his leg. Someone in the far east had 500/1 against a liner tapping his leg during the match?

Reaching the CL Final has overshadowed the rest of our season. We've ALL had it in the back of our minds since we qualified, & everything has been affected since. Luckily we'd already done enough to all but seal the league, & every match since qualification has the air of a farewell tour.

Dead rubber or not, I fuckin HATE losing! :-( The issue we have now is keeping the players fresh, motivated & fit, so it's no surprise we've conceded so many in the last few games & look decidedly distracted.

Roll on the CL Final. It can't come soon enough for me. Leicester beat a stronger Chelsea team at Wembley than the one which beat us. I'm tired of hearing about the Final, & hearing our fans thinking it's a given that we'll steamroller Chelsea. We won't!

We still have to turn up to play to our highest standard, physically, mentally & emotionally. We need to avoid giving away penalties, or getting players sent off. How our mentality will be affected by playing 3-4 matches with the final in mind, remains to be seen.

I just fuckin hope we can click back into gear when it matters which is easier said than done. Since overcoming PSG, we've not covered ourselves in glory & have looked all over the place. We've still got a job to do & need to get out of this premature celebratory mood & get serious for the big one.

Make no mistake about it, if we don't, we'll be cruelly exposed. The one advantage/disadvantage is Chelsea still need to ensure CL qualification. Whilst it means they still have meaningful matches to play whilst we can rest players, their players will have enough time between their last league match & the final to rest, & they'll still be game ready, whilst we will have to raise our game one last time after a 3 week lull. It's not gonna be the walk in the park some think it will be.

Look, the sending off was one of them, if it was Foden running instead of Welbeck will be all screaming for a red. and the tackle on Jesus in the box was a bit 50\50, but the tackle on Gundogs knee was a disgrace, in my mind a straight red card all day long. So for Peter Walton to say on BT sports that it is ok to go above the knee because his leg was bent in the tackle. WOW... The mind boggles.
Maybe this fires us up more for the final then beating them 4-0 and having a swagger for the final..
I'd like to think it was just a shit ref rather a conspiracy. We've already won the League, nothing to be gained by losing us a game, on the face of it
Having said that, it was an infuriating performance from a shit referee.

Nonsense. He didn't flag for a foul throw. He gace a foul against Bernado. Goodness knows what he thinks he saw to tap his leg. Someone in the far east had 500/1 against a liner tapping his leg during the match?
Some big bets won on Brighton after trailing 2-0 things that make you go mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Just digest this for a second, Garcia will be walking away with three Premier League title medals, four League Cups and one FA Cup.

If he also collects a Champions League medal, it will be the biggest miscarriage of footballing justice since Maradona hand of God.

No wonder Kane is pissed at not winning owt.
In the 4 years + he’s been here, I’ve never seen anything that made me think he could have a successful career at City... he’s not really progressed since I first saw him. All those honours ffs

Boiled my piss that did! I’d drive him to Spain myself
There are some fans who defend him but I really think Garcia is shite. Very slow, poor positional awareness, poor in the air, and very weak in the tackle. He is nowhere near as good as Tosin or Harwood Bellis. He is just not a top level player. I thought the same about Brahim Diaz. After Garcia came on tonight it was like playing with nine men.
