What I saw tonight didn't seem like a normal game, felt like a betting coup to me, Cancello dubious, Gundogan should have been sent off, Jesus penalty, and definitely referee involved [emoji170]

He's been brilliant all season. We're on the cusp of a treble and he's played more minutes than any other player, one or two bad games doesn't change his importance all year

Id have played him from the start. And Mendy. And Harwood. And Delap. And Palmer. And Doyle. And Sterling. And Ake.
We were lucky to escape tonight as we did. Nothing to be gained and too much to lose

Brighton started with a pretty good press that we were doing well to beat. Couldn't maintain that when Cancelo was sent off. And Brighton did to us what we do to 90% of the league. Foden scored a banger and i love that he didn't appear overly impressed with himself - it is a shame that the occasion wasn't bigger to really give the goal some gravitas.

We then continued to try and play the ball over the press but we needed to keep it a billion times better and when you add that to a ref doing his best to give you nothing the game would have needed heroics at the back. Ultimately we didn't have enough of our midfield deep enough to help out and to pass to to get through the press with some snappier and shorter passing.

Rodri dropped a bit of a clanger with the back pass but he was probably the only midfielder offering any press resistance. Garcia won a tackle but with his usual wet lettuceness. Dias tried manfully but was outsmarted as Troussard did what Raz has been trying to do all season.

Rodri, I think is a bit misunderstood and will give a stupid ball away but we have high standards. He's necessary for control and 95% of the time is a safe player to find and relieve some pressure. He was far from our main problem player today but it was a really tough game for 10 men and we hit it too long too often

Had to stop at your post, do you not think he offers more, seeing he is a multiple winner?

Very good team player, not much above average footballer. Looks great when the team is totally in control of a game and has time on the ball, but clearly uncomfortable when pressed/ closed down quickly... That hasn't happened very often since he arrived, and he usually gets away with it.

He's not the only player at City who falls into that category.

Simple fact is that he didn't get away with it today.

Is it just me, but clearly welbeck hooks cancelo’s arm, he was the aggressor, cancelo did nothing

Cancelo did nothing other than watch the ball & even tried heading it while he was going to ground, the only threshold that decision met was it might be considered a goal scoring opportunity & he was last man, but it’d have to be a foul first....I think they overlooked that part in their excitement

We’ve conceded 32 in 37 games. Garcia been on pitch 370 minutes and we’ve conceded 12. So we’ve let in 20 in about 33 games without him.

Chuffed to bits with that, hope we lose the next one too. Statistically very unlikely we'll lose three in a row generally or to Chelsea. Peps record in finals also supports this. One loss closer to CL victory!

Twice he was skinned in the first couple of minutes of the 2nd half and needed Stones to bail him out...
