Brighton (A) | Post-Match Thread

Has anyone figured out yet why Bernardo was flaged for a foul or offside from our throw in? Its still an unsolved mystery to me.
Yesterday I wasnt sure about some of the decisions, but the more I see them, the more ridiculous they where. Cancelo was a 50/50 tussle, locked in arms, he even got his head to the ball.
It was a nasty challange on Gundogan that wasnt dissimilar to Stones in the Villa game.
And a definate pen on Jesus, guy went flying in, two footed over the ball.
Genuinely think the ref and VAR had forgotten how to ref a match in front of a home crowd, and shat their pants.
Foul throw. Linesman indicated that a foot was raised off the ground and play was restarted with a throw-in to Brighton.

Think there's a bit of strange angst directed at Brighton and fans.
It was there first game back since Covid, they're probably going to be a bit more up for it than sometimes.
It's up to the officials to referee the match and they were quite simply beyond awful.
Brighton played some decent stuff with an eager crowd
The referee was utterly spineless and hopelessly incompetent.

The game reminded me a bit of Leeds v derby in damned United prior to European game.
I get the impression Brighton players told that city will not have the desire for a fight due to CL, so leave your foot in.

Referee allowed it to happen

After reading all the comments. I have to say A good few of you came across as self entitled and extremely patronising. You can’t win them all, that’s football. Congratulations on being champions and good luck in your champions league final against Chelsea.
There are some Brighton fans here who seem alright, but I think joining a rival team's forum to finger wag about decorum when they're annoyed about a defeat says more about you than the fans you've decided need a good telling off.

Fcuk off Atwell...and the cretinous ex ref defrauding BT viewers...and the shit pundits who defended the decision.

Luckily it doesn’t matter too much to us at the end of the day.

Credit to Brighton for a great comeback, even if they did have a big helping hand.

Regardless of the result City must appeal the red card, the City players need protecting and there are questions we need answering Did Welbeck foul first at what point did it change to a Cancelo foul, what type of foul is it and why was this the only foul given of it`s type when half a dozen were committed, why did the ref blow for a foul he could not see? VAR can be addressed in the summer, but we need to challenge this decision now while we can because the Gundogan foul was a direct result of disproportionate standards.
City must appeal.

I read he apologised for his goal celebration but I guess we were more bothered about the fouls.
Cheers

I am never going to complain about a guy celebrating a win unless it was in the Mourinho knee slide variety.

But some of the fouls looked like they were set out to injure and for that, they can go fuck themselves and I hope they get relegated next season.

It might be unpopular opinion here but I felt sad for the Brighton fans when we silenced them with that first goal. I think somewhere I felt happy for them that they had a good game .

We all hate losing but putting things in perspective we already won the league, let them enjoy their night.

Their night of corruption and booing.

It’s not Brighton that made the decisions they I would assume are unwilling beneficiaries of this poor performance at best and outright corruption at worst.

No bad feelings towards them - just the officials
Did you not watch the game, the cynical way they went about clogging our players, that **** Burn being the biggest culprit

We're still Champions....aren't we?

Bit annoyed last night, but hey ho, shit happens. Let's get all the shit refereeing out of the way now.

Upon reflection, you're right. Wasn't Brighton that made the decisions. Just pissed off about the officials (a lot).

The problem is malg that the fucking appalling refereeing decisions are not going away anytime soon so long as PiGMOL are allowed to do just what they want.

the corrupt cunts need to be stripped of their powers and replaced with a system which is transparent to supporters.

Cunts like Atwell and Moss should be sacked immediately.
