Went out to the pub last night with the family, mask wearing going to the toilet etc and adhering but as the night wore on you could see the standards slipping, people obviously booking two tables of 6 then getting pushed together. What I am saying is there is no going back now, people will not lockdown again so get your jab or don’t but if you get ill don’t start whinging, the rest of us want to get on with life.

Your post was so ridiculous that I thought it must be sarcasm and that you were actually suggesting there was not any reason to not have a vaccine.

If your post was genuine then it was not very convincing. It was bizarre and does not give any reason to not have a vaccine.

What research have you done?

FYI, watching a few videos on youtube and reading blogs doesnt count as research. Good luck getting those references to fly for peer review.

The news that the vaccines remain highly effective against the Indian variant is confirmation of what scientists expected. It shows that if we can get vaccination levels up in the younger age groups we can protect ourselves as a population. However, it also shows that we are in a race. We'll win it in the UK. And then science will generate 2nd generation vaccines.

I hope the CHinese vaccines are as effective. China is undergoing a huge vaccination drive at the moment. 17m doses a day. We need vaccination to be effective globally otherwise new variants will drive reinfection however there is no need to be alarmed, we are on the road to turning this into a flu-like seasonal infection.

Next targets:
FInd out just how much more transmissible the new variant is.
Get young people vaccinated in Bolton, and turn it around there.
Watch the new variant sweep the world. There are some signs of tick-up in areas you might expect. Fortunately everywhere is seeing increasing vaccination levels.

Aim for UK.

Get the entire population vaccinated and then repeat with updated vaccines in time to prevent re-infection so we don't have any lockdowns again.

None of this is news. It's just confirmation of what we knew would happen once the Kent variant emerged.

The BBC drive me potty. This is their headline this morning
  • Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the findings make him "increasingly confident" the government will be able to lift restrictions in England on 21 June
Last night on radio 2, at 6, they has some expert saying social distancing will have to remain beyond June 21st and 'the small freedoms we are currently enjoying could well be taken away'. The reality I assume is that noone really knows. So why dont they just say that,

Vaccines and genomics suggest some people do know. It depends on what the topic is. No one really knows what?

Science is a cumulative and collaborative process. It's executed by people who are experts in their field and each field is highly focused.

The expert you mention seems a bit biased to me. Anyone saying we currently have “small freedoms” is clearly biased. The vast majority of peole can have a good quality of life now (if Covid had been the barrier to this).

Decisions about the 21st June will be taken further down the line with better data like you suggest.
