Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

Chelsea have our number, Pep tried to change it by playing without a DM , it didnt work.

Chelsea defended brilliant ok went down abit easy.

Feel so sad for Sergio

Personally dont feel to upset in fact abit nonplussed about it.

We won the league the best team in England.

I would like to see the penalty shout again , but BT havent showed it.

I didnt know you could knock the ball onto your arm and its not a foul.

We put out a seriously odd XI and Chelsea just did Chelsea.
Yeah that's how sports are supposed to work. The fucking Patriots never benched Tom Brady in a Super Bowl, Rafa Nadal never played left-handed in a French Open final. Sports are easier to win when you play to your strengths. I guess we're lucky that Garcia and Ake didn't start too.

And I defended those ‘reduced’ line ups for those 2 games, but having seen tonight as well, I think we need to view those 3 game’s against Tuchel’s Chelsea as a whole, and in all 3 matches, regardless of players, we’ve been second best.
Very little in any of those defeats and 9 changes can't be overlooked no matter how you spin it, they were all close games where one mistake here or there made the difference. City are better than Chelsea best 11 for best 11, no doubt about that for me but we didn't play our best 11 and we didn't play to our best either, so it can't be surprise that Chelsea won because they are a good team("spent billions on it, they should be" :) ). Hats off to them but lets not hyperbole a easy to read situation.

I just wish we played our best 11 and formation and would have taken the losss completely different. Its the frustration that hurts most. The opportunity to win it when RM barca, dippers are not at their best and we avoided clashing with BM. It was by far the best opportunity to have our hands on it. GUTTED:(

We may play our best team against them next season and have a decent plan to boot, you never know a light bulb may go off

I don’t understand everything Pep does but we might have lost anyway even with Fern.

You can’t argue with Peps’s record.

Credit to Chelsea.

Not as simple as they were good,we were bad, so it must be the team selection from Pep at fault.

I see Sterling turned out his usual pathetic performance. He should NEVER be allowed to put on a city shirt again. Get rid of him after he’s fucked it up for a England at the Euros.

Pissing about with team for CL final after the displays v PSG was inevitable. He just can’t help himself.

Angry is an understatement. We didn’t even make their keeper have to save one.

6 easy points for Chelsea next season.
What a load of cry baby shite

We had another poor first half like in Paris, and this time it was fatal. Also, we didn't learn enough from the previous two losses vs Chelsea.

We weren't patient enough in the build-up and made mistakes. Chelsea used some of them for dangerous counters and defended brilliantly, tbf.

Think that the heroic efforts from December to March when we won 21 games in a row cost us in the final months. Cancelo, Rodri, Bernardo, Gundogan were crucial in that period, but lost a bit of form after that. Even Dias wasn't at his best recently and was arguably responsible for their goal. Kevin wasn't in the game and made mistakes. Still, his injury was pretty bad, for he could create a goal out of nothing.

Did Pep make a mistake with the first XI? Maybe he did, but nobody could be sure that the final outcome would have been different. Think Sterling was better than say Kevin and Mahrez, at least in the first half. A lot of people on here underestimated Chelsea before the game. They played pretty well, our current style suits their strengths, similarly with us and Liverpool 2-3 years ago.

We have lost a bit of form since early March, which is normal. Next season we will reinforce our attack and go again.

Thanks for this season to Pep and the players. Hopefully we will do even better next season.

This defeat was born with the FA semi final defeat and then the League defeat. If Pep thought he was disguising his hand it failed dismally. Chelsea learnt how to beat Peps system and even if our personnel change they came in confident their system could beat us. Then Pep decided to mix it up with a bizarre move that essentially handed the initiative to Chelsea before a ball was kicked.

What makes you think that? Guardiola doesn’t learn from his mistakes he just goes for the possession game and hopes for the best. This was our chance and we blew it!
Somehow I think we are in CL next year too. We didn’t lose a match up til now. The Red scouse lost then won. I expect we will be in the final next season too. I didn’t like Pep’s formation but it COULD have worked — Chelsea played well and we didn’t. Enough blame to go around.
