Champions League Final | Post-Match Thread

Pep is a genius anyone wanting him gone etc is just being a dick and I think I have some idea as to what he may have been trying to do but he owes the higher ups and ideal us fans proper explanation as to why he suddenly changes everything for champions league games and we then loose

Not that it was the main reason we lost tonight

I think we all knew that we had to score first in this game. Chelsea are so good at shutting up shop. Thought the foul on Kevin was atrocious. He was done. Chelsea will be rivals for the title next season.

I am not so sure about that. They will have to rely on more than hitting teams on the break.

I just turned the football off at the final whistle and resolved to watch something funny on TV instead. I gave in after about an hour and I looked here, the first thing I read I quote and it says it all really.

Gutted? Absolutely, but remember where we have come from.

One sad thing though: before the game started the commentator said something like oooooh Southgate must be happy watching these English players tonight. Really? well apart from Walker, who else who qualifies for England on either side stood out tonight?
Just a view on your last paragraph
Chilwell had an excellent game and had Marhez in his pocket. And before the game Foden and Mount had had excellent seasons, one off game shouldn't take away from that

Wake up, we won the fucking league you absolute loony bin. We just made our first ever CL final too.

But according to you, being happy with that is wanting to be back in division 2?

You're a joke. We're a winning club and we won again this year, but entitled cunts like you can't accept not winning everything and it's a cancer in our fanbase.

Not winning the champions league with the supposedly best manager and this team for the last 5 years is a failure, everyone but a few diehard city fans will agree, you can hype up a final losers medal after 5 years as much as you want.

No one sane is having it.

Oh get a grip.
If you honestly believe they didn’t want to try to win that you’re deluded.
You could see the hurt across all their faces at the end.
You can’t win every game and today they weren’t helped by the manager.
The best team doesn’t always win.
It’s why we love football.
All well and good them looking hurt but they all looked apathetic on that pitch tonight

Oh shit, i'm not getting into a referring argument so if that's still a pen then whatever, but for me, as a football fan, if that's my team and thats a penalty i lose my fucking mind.

Fair enough, but they get given all the time. Because they are penalties. And fans lose their mind, and fans accept them for what they are.

Honestly, it is not bias, it is not deflection, or excuses, it is a footnote, in a disappointing night.

That was partly down to them not being comfortable with the setup. We'll never know for sure, but it's hard not to think it cost us in a big way.

Pep has a system that the players drill in regarding positional play. Most of that team has been drilling in that system for years. I’m sure it was slightly different but we didn’t really change shape we just used different players in one particular role. They just outplayed us

sorry tears were not enough, lack of desire , lack of character, right from the off.

They wanted it more, end of story

Can't believe all of the Pep bashing. We were set up to attack, but the players didn't perform. Chelsea defended well, and were incapable of breaking them down. Happened a lot this year where we just couldn't create good chances. I'm gutted, but we won the league and move on to next year.
Why would you go all out attack against a counter attacking team without a dmf???

Very disappointed. But I think fans were largely over confident after this season, so it feels particularly gutting.

Pep selected the wrong team - fairly simple, and we didn't really have a plan B. Then when it was clear things weren't working and Kevin went off, just punting on a load of attackers at the end, with no way of getting the ball to them.

So disappointing. But it's a cup final, against a good team with a good manager, things can go wrong.

Several times we had two City players going for the same ball. Never saw that before. No-one seemed to know where they were playing apart from Sterling and Mahrez on whom Pep bet the farm - and lost.
