I know this isn’t just on him but sometimes I do wonder what happens in training. Like we have some glaring weaknesses at times and they don’t look remotely like they’re close to being resolved

The takeaway from this sadly is this final is going to be remembered in many years time as another time Pep went mental and it backfired spectacularly. Just like Lyon. It's in danger of becoming a habit. When was the last time one of these hairbrained ideas worked?
The mad genius strikes again. Love the man to bits but playing Gundo & Phil out of their best position this season was crazy. Having the game pass Kev by until he was exhausted was crazy. Not starting a dm was crazy. Playing sterling was crazy.

We found the winning formula and all he had to do was stick to it but as I say the mad genius was back in town.

Never. Literally never.
Yeah I struggled too. I think I vaguely recalled him doing something bizarre against arsenal one year where I think we played a straight up back 3. Literally just 3 defenders in the side and 6 midfielders and a striker, we won but we got through it despite the tactics rather than it actually working but I think that was a regular league game with not that much riding on it.

there's no obvious recollection of it ever going well in the games that matter when he's done it yet there's an ever increasing number of times it went badly wrong, off the top of my head there's tonight, lyon, spurs, Liverpool(everytime we played them for about 3 seasons) Monaco, arsenal, united(everytime we play them at home)

That many becomes a problem. Especially when he once more fails to take responsibility and admit he got it wrong publicly

He fucked the team over.

No excuse for the team, set up and tactics.

It's become a pattern in the big games.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of the players were questioning Peps decision in private with each other.

I'm not saying to sack Pep. Just can't get my head round it.

Does anyone else think Klopp would bench Mane or Salah and play someone completely out of form instead? Or if Tuchel had dropped Kante?

Why the fuck does Pep do it?

Pep likes to gamble. If we totally blitzed Chelsea in the first half, with that line up then he would be hailed a genius for that. I didn't agree with his decision but he is one fully in charge of team affairs

To keep players happy.

His complete overthinking has never worked in CL since his arrival. So why fix something that is not broken?

My post in september had nothing to do with results. His body language and demeanor for most of 2020 was negative and he had yet to sign a new contract.

Quoting something from a year ago in football is as relevant as going back 10 years and quoting people underwhelmed with appointing Mancini when Mourinho was available.

Not overthinking, he decided he could give Chelsea something else to think about. We lost both previous games with Rodri and Fernandinho in the side

To keep players happy.
I've heard him in the last couple of months say that some players are not happy with him for not getting play time and just wondering if Sterling bullied Pep to start him. I have no other explanation for the starting XI

I love Pep, but obviously its his responsability!! 3 losses in a row against a manager who even got pre-season says it all. Worst than that its how we lose, total incapacity and bad bad performances in 3 games. His responsability above all.

And that, for me, is the main problem. Too many ‘top-class’ players that the manager has to choose from. Slim the squad down and promote the youth
Spot on, been thinking this for a while, too many players that he has to try and keep happy and yet they've not put in the performances that gave warranted the starts.

The thing is, you only take a gamble if you're the underdogs and the odds are against you, you don't take a gamble when the cards are stacked in your favour and you just have to do the same thing you've been doing all season that's led the team to that point to win.

It's like playing pontoon as the house, the player sticks on 18, you draw 19 and still decide to twist.

If we won tonight he would be hailed a genius. Our last two games against Chelsea ended in defeat. He decided to give the pack another shuffle.
