As captain, I really hope he takes Pep to one side and privately gives him both barrels for leaving him out and Pep allows him to do that with no comeback. And I mean that as a "why are you leaving out the holding midfielder" way rather than a "I'm captain I deserve to play" arrogant way.

I think Pep really needs to hear that from somebody.

ideally it would be one of his backroom staff that does it but seemingly none of them will do that as you'd imagine they already would have before kick off when he decided on that crazy formation if they were going to and it can't really come from khaldoon as it comes across as him trying to tell Pep how to do his job which means the obvious guy is the club captain.

No you can't. You can if you invent a story in your head that the refs out to get you.

there's no reasoning whatsoever.
He would be sent off if he started. Chelsea would targeted him if he did. And he started in the FA Cup Semi Final and we lost in equally uspectacular fashion.

We changed the entire team for the cup semi final.

Based on what though? He's an expert at knowing what he can and can't get away with. When's the last time any team got in his head? He gets in the oppositions head not the other way around. Did you not see him against psg? Their entire team had lost the plot with Fernandinho the main instigator of that and he's the coolest head on the pitch smiling at them.

Gundogan isn't as good of a tackler, isn't as mobile, doesn't have the same positional awareness and doesn't anticipate as well and hasn't played in that position for over 2 seasons, he was far more likely to get himself in trouble than Fernandinho.

The semi final and league game had no bearing on tonight whatsoever, the lineups showed that.

Still part of the side that lost. He deserves an extension but he wouldn't of made any difference to the outcome if he did start the Champions League final

Chelsea would of targeted him if he started. They would of knew what his strengths and weaknesses were and would of gone off that semi final as a starting point for their tactical plan.

You don't know that, but at least if that happened we won't be complaining about Pep fucking up again, let me remind you that Gundogan is our top scorer and hasn't played at DM for a long time, how do you think changing his position before a final was a good idea ?

Pep gambled with line up and lost and he carries some of the can but the players should take responsibilty as well. They are adults ffs and they should be self motivated.

You keep saying targeted him, I thought you meant Mark him as somebody to try and get sent off originally but seeing as I addressed that and you've said it again adding Chelsea know his strengths and weaknesses are you actually suggesting he's a weak link that they would have preyed upon?

The semi final had nothing to do with tonight, that game had 3 City players in it that started tonight and only one of those was in the same position (dias)

Fernandinho would of been considered a weak link.

Yeah he gambled and not for the first time it backfired, this has happened repeatedly in the CL, and of course the players were motivated they were simply beaten by the tactically better team.

Each Champions' league exit was mixed in with individual player error

Preceded by Pep playing a weird lineup.
A Sterling miss away from taking Lyon to extra time. Sterling's disallowed goal vs Spurs. A few dodgy refereeing decisions in the games vs Liverpool. That isn't down to Pep

All games had baffling decisions by Pep.

Liverpool playing Gundogan wide right in the first leg.
Spurs putting KDB on the bench in the first leg.
Lyon playing Eric Garcia in the central defence.
Chelsea not playing either Rodri or Fernandinho when at least one played in the previous 59 games.

You ask 100 fans and 100 professionals to pick the team before each of those games and every single one would have got it wrong.

Thats not down to the players, it’s down to Pep.

Pep didn't miss that chance vs Lyon. Pep played no part in that Cup semi final defeat containing both defensive midfielders.

Yes it wasn't all Pep's fault but he was to blame as well, in all of those ties he played a weird formation that we didn't try before and we always started terribly and had to chase the game, tonight was no different.

So any manager could win what we have under Pep then as it seems that Pep makes no difference to any team selection as it’s all down to the players? Can’t have it both ways.

Its a two way street

Its a two way street

So if Pep picks John Stones ahead of Eric Garcia against Lyon, Sterling may not have needed that chance to take it to extra time.

The players do the business when they step over the white line but the manager has to give them the right tools to perform and in all 4 defeats, he hasn’t done. That’s on Pep.

Play your best XI which includes Fernandinho and no one will say anything about Pep after a defeat.
