annonymous again in the biggest game....has had a decent season but for me we should cash in on him. He doesnt have the fight required when the chips are down

? have you watched any game over the last month. He was one of our best players in the semi final and quarter.

He was..that's my point...in games where we dominate he is fine...when the chips are down...he goes missing...Sterling was really poor last night and has been repeatedly this season BUT...he never goes missing and keeps trying even when he is playing poorly

I disagree he was the most dangerous player with foden, the whole team was crap because it was build around Sterling for the final, and Pep stretched too much the wingers sticking with the line, how you can cut inside if you are so far, Pep’s fault definitely

It's rare that you see a team so obviously decide to take to take a player out of the game with a few rough challenges early on and they genuinely shrink and vanish, but last night was one of them.

Chilwell and Jorginho fouled him the first 3 times he got the ball and he didn't do anything from 5 minutes until added time when he started popping up trying to do stuff.

A massive let down from a player who'd been doing so well in 2021.

Yet this has occurred numerous times in seasons before...is it always peps fault ?..maybe if mahrez had more to his game than cutting inside.. he had zero influence on last night's game at all and up until this season that was a common occurrence. Mahrez level of skill is at the level of david Silva.....but he lacks the heart far too often

Losing against Chelsea 3 times in 6 weeks definitely it’s Pep’s fault who is stubborn with his philosophy, you have to see the facts, i don’t think he had lack of heart in semi final why would he now in the most important moment of his career dosent just make sense, it’s just the game of yesterday didn’t serve him well and Debruyn was playing far too often with Sterling according to Pep’s instructions to build the final around Sterling, still him and foden were the most dangerous in the field and playing without a 6 against Chelsea its like a suicide mission

Its funny the reaction to one off games on here if we lose.

We can’t win every game. I think last nights games was more of a system failure than a player failure. Especially blaming the players who got us here in the first place.

As much as it sucks we lost the game, were the not better team anyway and we will go again. There were multiple issues but blaming every single player for one reason or another is stupid.

Great player and had a great season. But he is already 30 years old and this is the last chance to get proper money for him. I would sell him. We can find better players and especially younger ones

I agree he should move to Real madrid or to the Barca like Aguero if he aspires to win the UCl one day for his age

Losing to chelsea is irrelevant to the point being made as we are looking at Mahrez performances over his time at the club. Peoples personality, mental strength etc does not have to make sense...it is what it is....Mahrez has gone missing on a regular basis over his time here in big games...this season has been better but again last night as a more senior prime and eith someone with such a talent and agility you would expect him to at least attempt to grab the game by its bullocks and give it a go....but yet again he didnt...

Peps playing without a 6 was an issue but the issue with Mahrez isnt connected to that as it's been there since he arrived and only sometimes does he come out of his shell and show what he can really do

At his age I'd seriously look to cash in on him now

Could we not sell the lad on the other side who couldn’t trap a bag of cement rather than one of the most talented players on the squad who’s been playing brilliantly for us?

Again this isnt a conversation about other players..its a conversation about Mahrez...selling or retaing sterling has nothing to do with it

It was always going to happen.

Most of those who posted here in the last 12 hours didn't write a thing on this thread for months. Now that the final was lost you have to find someone responsible for a collective failure and convince the others that it'd be better to sell him, forgetting that he was instrumental on the road to the finals.

Exactly this what i’m trying to explain the guy above Mahrez was brilliant and took city alone to the final but Pep’s system didn’t in final didn’t allow him to express himself neither Debruyn could or other talented players so i don’t know what you expecting that Mahrez duplicate himself and plays in the left and right? The prob was Sterling the game was on his side 90% of the time according to pep’s instructions replay the match today with none emotional approach and you would see the facts

He was poor last night, but he pretty much got us to the final. Chilwell was onto him like a rash, it was a clear tactic from Tuchel. Give Mahrez room and he will destroy you, that’s exactly what they prevented.
We also seemed to be doggedly determined to attack on our left, often overloading that side of the park, and because we could see chinks of light between James and Azpilicueta, we neglected to move the ball fast enough to try Mahrez’s side.
