We really do have the best fans in the world.

I don’t know if we were second best to Chelsea on Saturday because I wasn’t there.

Unfortunately our support is often poor. See it every week at the stadium. Lots of singing in the bar and then very little in the stand. I see the same guys 20s/30s singing like their lives depend on it and then only a couple of times when the game is on. I know because around 30 of them sit in SS3 314.

I’m an old fart compared, 55, but I shout and sing till I’ve got no voice left. It’s really not hard actually supporting the team.

What I do know is if I’d have been lucky enough to be at the final I’d have given my all to support the boys.
Loads of singing in the City end, I was level with the goal line in the corner area on the bottom tier, loads of noise and great singing, I'm a similar age to you mate and I can say that there was a lot of noise from City fans!

Were we fuck you fucking Muppet! We averaged 28,000 in the old third division when we were shit with no prospect of ever being successful and took over almost every ground we went to away, I know because I was there so you can fuck right off with this utter bollocks. We also had over 40,000 at the Etihad nearly every game when the attendance was 48,000 and again we were light years from winning anything and watching utter boring shite under Pearce. I doubt you are even a City fan you're just a rag or s dipper on the wind up. Every fan from other club's couldn't believe our loyalty for sticking with the club through 35 years of mediocrity, even the media gave us grudging praise for that. Fast forward the takeover and a few trophies and you get thousands of know fuck all idiots like you climbing out of the woodwork to spout utter shite.
This is a great post, apart from early cup rounds sometimes, Maine Road was always pretty full, I stood in the Kippax and it was always full even when, maybe especially when we were shit. Only glory hunters support teams that never have bad times. The Etihad has generally been full since we moved there, again apart from some of the mid week cup games. We had many more fans at the Chumps league final, than chelski - FFS they didn't even sell their allocation! CTID

I think anyone who went to all of the hassle & expense of going to Portugal should be lauded, not slagged off due to a lack of atmosphere.
We have an older & loyal fanbase than most clubs, most people in their 50's and above will not act like they did in their teens or 20's.
It's just the way it is, us oldies need more nap time :)
I went, ended up paying £500 for a ticket and spent north of £1800. I loved the trip with my mates but the overriding memory for me was how poor our support in the stadium was. Sorry, I know its painful but we are great in the bars, squares planes and trains but shite in stadiums.

And this is the problem. The points system... I had a season ticket for twenty years. My daughters over ten each. Unless you have thousands of points you can’t go to finals etc. You literally have to wait until the older fans die off before the younger generation can go. Sorry if I’ve offended people but ultimately the loyalty system is shit. I know big city fans in their twenties who spend all their cash buying overpriced tickets to watch city abroad etc because unless you’ve got thousands of points, you ain’t going.

I have commented earlier. We are the biggest piss heads in football. A West Ham steward once told me so and they are briefed accordingly. We are the only club to drink Wembley dry. However so pissed means people are not up for the match. Porto seems a typical City.

I am not going to away games anyway now. I got my lad his ticket 2 hours before kick off in Porto. If the older ones don't back off the future is not there.

I have a season ticket and I am in all 3 cup schemes that's how I get my points. Why should I suffer a ballot or as some seem to suggest, a ban on getting a ticket ? I don't have enough points for the rags away but so what. I don't feel the need to have a go at others who go every year. They are not being selfish, just loyal.

Also this old vs young debate is silly, and I can only think it was brought about by younger fans who couldn’t get there and reckon they’d have made lots of noise.

Honestly, it didn’t matter what age you were, that atmosphere was always going to be the same with that lineup and the way the game went. Think the “older” fans were great as they usually are. (And i’m in my 20s)
I don’t get this line up argument at all. Our trusted leader, the best manager in the world, picks a team with which I assume the atmosphere apologists agreed in 10 out of the 11 players and yet the 1 player they disagreed with is enough to burst the bubble - seriously ?? What about the other ten title winning heroes - no faith in them ?

Jesus, imagine the reaction had he made 3 or 4 unpopular selections. Might’ve had the OSC breaking into the Etihad in protest.

I remember being in the Yew Tree pub - a regular haunt of ours back in the day - when we were away at Villa one time. The landlord said City fans were the biggest pissheads to visit his pub down the years, and only Newcastle fans came close.
Porto was indeed like your typical City away day - multiplied by about 10. However, as wankered as I tend to get, I do put the effort in in the ground too!

Finals go to very little loyalty points, and zero for the league cups, no idea why you would have a problem getting tickets for finals. Maybe just the one with a 6k allocation, but why should they be able to go? Not everyone can go.

You can get kids tickets on the strength of adults loyalty points and build them up, but most are not willing to do that, but why should the ones who are prepared to do that be punished? The system is the same for everyone.

Ahh the old Yew Tree pub. I went to the club there a few times, the Yewtopia.

I think we should lock out under 25 away fans because they have no “history”.

Introduce a co-efficient ranking system so the Legacy fans with the most history are protected.

If any fans without any history pay over the odds for away tickets, these shouldn’t be counted towards their co-efficient ranking.

The Legacy fans should qualify automatically for all future Champions League finals.

The Legacy fans should introduce, implement and oversee the new rules until they die.

My under 25 easily qualified - people don't decide to support city at 18.

Hopefully the Investigatory Chamber looks into this, and make sure he’s self-funded all of those ticket points.

We have to protect the Legacy fans because they invented Manchester City. It belongs to them.

Thanks Paul..you sum it up nicely..if it is a wind up then frankly the worst ever..the comments about Blues having been rags is a disgrace..these comments should be banned.
Tbf it's the rag that made them that should be banned rather than the comments.
