Erling Haaland

I never said they are the greatest ever, I’m saying they are a real threat. Do you expect us to have another unbeaten run like that? It’s never a given.
They are beginning to play now like I thought they might this past season. If those young strikers get the right boots fitted they will be a real threat.

My personal preference is haaland but how could anybody be upset if we signed Kane instead

if he can avoid injuries you’re looking at a guaranteed 40 goals a season for the next 3 seasons

there’s a chance haaland could flop. I’d say the chances of Kane being a flop are practically zero

and you just never know, Liam Delap could be the next haaland
If that dressing room is feeling down (which they must be) when they see Harry Kane walk it it will be like a shot in the arm for the new season
Signing the guy with most goals and most assists can’t be bad

Chelsea don't have the strength in depth to go on all fronts.
But he could do a Klopp and Jettison competitions early doors that distract from the main goal. The cliché of winning becomes an habit is still relevant. I think Chelsea coming into the mix can only make things better for us. We have always had to concentrate on 19 other teams, the others just on us.

I think people really underestimate how many chances we have to counter attack.

We get half a dozen in each game, even against the likes of Burnley or Allardyce we get chances from their corners and usually break from them.

The reason we dont score from them is because Sterling is the only one with pace and seeing him get into the opposition half, look up and realise no one is around him, is something we see almost every game. When we had Sané, Sterling, Jesus/Aguero up front we scored the most counter attacking goals in the league because the person breaking got support. Teams aren't playing against us differently, we just aren't converting the counter attack into chances and goals.

Even in the first half on Saturday - and in every game we have lost against good opposition - we have had big counter attacks but couldn't work them into goals.

We can break down a parked bus, we do it every week and have won 3 league titles doing it. I think its a massive oversimplification of what Haaland does to say he can only play in space, but even if that were true he'd still score a bucket load.

We scored 4 counter attacking goals(Opta - scoring quickly after winning the ball in our own half) in the prem in 17/18 and 5 in 18/19. We scored 3 this season so it's not been a massive decline. Haaland would offer us that as a threat even more so than Sane ect though so definitely an area that can be improved on.

Haaland scoring a bucket load for our team in this league is pure conjecture.
Way more attacking flops out of the Bundesliga than successes in recent years. Also look at Sancho a costume of the player he is at Dortmund for England.
Also I remember you saying Ousmane Dembele was better than Neymar based purely on his season at Dortmund. It's a league that makes attacking players look better than they are.

Haaland is obviously a massive talent but for the price and the wages(that will only go up if we want to keep him long term) it's a huge financial gamble and regardless of how highly you rate him, being as good here as he is at Dortmund is not guaranteed. Whilst with someone like Kane the risk is only with injury, the sporting risk is a lot lower and the financial costs are a lot lower, hence why it seems that's the player we are leaning toward.

I've been a bit down on Kane, but he is starting to have the feel of Van Persie at United or Alisson at Liverpool. A simple solution to the most obvious problem a team has.

You’re talking as if they haven’t done that multiple times already last season
They struggle to open teams up who defend deeply against them. It's not easy to change a style of play, and the way CFC play leaves them prone to a lot of draws.

You can’t judge “the way CFC play” for this season. You will start seeing more of Tuchel’s vision next season.
I’m not going to convince anyone here about this, and I certainly hope they AREN’T a threat. But I fear they will be and we should plan accordingly

Their fans and acolytes should remember they couldn't beat Leicester in the FA Cup, WBA at home or Arsenal.
They were screwed against Leicester by VAR disallowing a perfect goal. The West Brom game was an exception (like us vs Leicester, Liverpool vs Villa, United vs Tottenham... everyone had one of those). I watched that game vs Arsenal, they were operating at 50%. I also remember the reactions here being of people getting comfortable thinking we would easily win against them
And if you think their fans should be spending one second thinking “oh we won the Champions League, but those Arsenal and West Brom games...”... lol They will start next season on a high with a lot of confidence

It’s not about that game alone. I think they came close this year, will be a stronger team next season and winning the UCL makes all their plans for the summer window easier. We have to look at them as an equal competition.
I also don’t think our rotation always worked this season
Gus. Chelsea should be stronger next year and compete strongly having spent over £220m in the last 12 months on 5 players. Kai Havertz (£71m), Timo Werner (£48m), Ben Chilwell (£45m), Hakim Ziyech (£36m) and Edouard Mendy (£22m)

Chelsea’s owner seems to be back in love with his club and will make cash available but Chelsea will undoubtably have similar problems to us offloading and opening slots for new signings.

It will be very difficult to retain the Prem title as history shows it always is. I don’t want it any other way.

I am not interested in what their fans think. CFC are a counter-attacking side and as such will struggle in the league to get enough points. Simple point but uncontestable. They may evolve but that's a wait and see. All we can do is refer to what they are now.

They still have to manage their players carefully
I disagree (in part) They play dont lose football that doesn't need the same...UMMPH (for want of a better sound) They are the football equivalent of a horse that appears to be able to count because they are very well drilled with a bit of talent. The horse isn't the star.

Absolutely not will they challenge if they strengthen considerably, but look at Liverpool a couple of injuries and they are way off, our squad is very strong when 9 aren’t rotated in one go, we will only get stronger and Haaland would put us on another level, not so much Chelsea.

Liverpool got complacent after getting to the top of the mountain.
I guess where I differ with most people here is that I think Chelsea are a threat even without strengthening (which they will) whatever their style of play. But we will have to wait and see

He cannot end up at a PL rival. We must not let that happen. Chelsea or United only realistic as Liverpool aint spending that big on a player for sure.

If Chelsea and United has that kind of money so do we.

Still I can see him staying one more season and then goes to Bayern to replace Lewandowski, Dortmund kind of likes to send their best players to Bayern (Hummels, Gotze, Lewandowski), fucking inbred league they happy to "feed" Bayern like Upemecano or Nagelsmann etc.
