This is not news.
Booster jabs for the vulnerable have been planned for months and nhs is geared up for it.
It does not need to lead to restrictions.
Isn’t the standard gap about 8 weeks now.

I think the research is helpful in reminding some people not to get too preoccupied in the brand of vaccine and the vaccination programme is working well.

I think the biggest danger is recklessness with some Blues returning from Porto advising others to disable Apps and is ore isolation (when contacted be Test and Trace).

Not surprising given the nonsensical situation where you can take as many ‘gold standard’ PCR tests which come back negative yet still be expected to isolate.

People will make their own mind up about ridiculous rules.

Zoe data elsewhere

Luton has spiked and is now at 6069 - above most places in the NW but not all

Redditch is not far off at 5624.

Most places in the South remain only at the level of Wigan and Stockport at worse.

Such as Watford 2561 and Southwark 2526

Havant in Hampshire ditto at 2561.Maldon in Essex is 2318.

Large swathes of Derbyshire are in the 2000s too.

Further North Sunderland on 4840

In Scotland large parts of the country (very big regions there) are in the 2000s.

Glasgow numbers seem down in that range too.

In fact Edinburgh at 3525 is higher on Zoe and North Lanarkshire between the rwo hugher still at 4317.

However, South Ayrshire is still the highest in the country on 5445

Aberdeenshire which was for a while way up there is now only in the mid 2000s.

In Wales Wrexham at 3061 is the only place over the 1000s. And there are only a couple of those in the 1000s down south around Swansea.
I really don't know why Redditch has been top of the pops for a lot of the pandemic. Its a Milton Keynes new town type of place. Low density housing for the most part.
The only thing I can think of is car sharing as it's one of the top places in the UK for that.

Redditch is a Poundshop Milton Keynes, closer to Harlow, where you'll find the majority of shoppers are apparently exempt from masking rules. Not quite Spennymoor but you get the point.

Some lovely retirement villages to the south where I expect the elderly haven't left their homes for a year.

It clearly is news as it's newly published research against this specific variant which is rampant in our country.

The fact that boosters might/will be needed has been known for a while, but this research might impact the speed of that, and that this specific variant is vulnerable to antibody subsiding within a relatively short space of time.

(Again, I mention it doesn't take into account the role of T cells/B cells and all the rest of it).

The rules allowed many thousands of us to travel to Porto during a pandemic. The tests were hassle but they were designed to protect us and the local population. If the planes carried infected people then the rules around isolation should be followed.

Just read that Qatar hopes to reach heard immunity by end of July..have any dates been given for the UK yet..?

Bury Council are going to start going door to door in certain parts of the town to check if people have had their jabs. Also opening three locations as walk up centres over the weekend I.e no appointment necessary.
And what if they haven't? They aren't mandatory. Just more theatre I suppose. The mere mention of this tyranny keeps some people afraid, and others angry, and others angry at the people who are angry about it. Lovely.

New report showing loss of antibodies particularly in elderly/vulnerable from 2 doses of Pfizer vaccine against Delta variant after 3 months of second dose. Still offers good protection but boosters more likely needed than not for this variant now.

(Report doesn't take into account T cells etc, and hopefully still extremely good efficacy against severe disease etc)

Feel like we've been here before with this. I could have sworn loads have said reducing antibodies doesn't necessarily mean it isn't highly effective, plus memory T-cells can they produce them really quickly anyway. It's normal isn't it?

Absolute joke mate. Your son and you will probably feel absolutely fine, the vulnerable have been vaccinated along with 75% of the country. Basically if they keep this shite up it will never end.
There’s no joke about it. The rules are the rules until the rules change and the date for which the rules are to be changed hasn’t come yet. That’s like the referee blowing up on 80 minutes on Saturday and saying “we’ll, City don’t look like scoring, let’s just give the European Cup to Chelsea”.

People shouldn’t stop isolating just because you fancy it being time to stop.

It’s less than 50% who have been vaccinated by the way, 75% have received one jab.

Indeed. I get the flu jab each year and have received multiple vaccines since birth, not once have I ever asked which company produced it.

Why? Why should someone who has tested negative on numerous occasions, probably jabbed or double jabbed, lose possibly over a week’s pay and sit in isolation from society when they almost certainly don’t have coronavirus?
