Run his contract down?
He spat his dummy out a couple of times when dropped by Pep this season.
Strikes me as someone who would consider all options if he wasn't guaranteed a starting place o a regular basis
If we run his contract down, then yes someone might be prepared to pick up his huge wages if there's no signing on fee. But we are left what £75m to £100m out of pocket?

Our best bet IMO is to try to offload him in a swap deal for one of our targets.

EDIT: @mosssideblue just seen your post.

I think Pep starting him in the final should have given him that belief. Wasnt the game to give him a confidence booster. Looks absolutely shot at the moment, I worry the opposite that a bad euros means an even more fragile Sterling returns. The reality is on form he shouldn’t be playing though, but will and take the blame should it go wrong.
I think it goes without saying that a bad tournament will have the opposite effect to him having a good one, mate.

The stars just don't align though,we would need to be in talks with a club that would want him,he is willing to play for,and that can afford his contract.....that counts Dortmund, Villa and Spurs out.

I genuinely think the best we can hope for is that he gets game time in the Euro's and impresses enormously,we either get a useful player back or he puts himself in the window - win win!

Does it rule Spurs out? I know Sterling is rumoured to be on £300k but how much of that is actual salary and how much is bonuses? Spurs would be saving the £200k p.w. they are paying Kane, plus wnatever extra they are going to need to pay him if they were to persuade him to stay.. So the delta might not be that great actually.

And I know it's not our house style to be "nasty" but if a player is told you can rot in the reserves or go to another top club and get regular game time, then surely that's a factor for them to consider, even if it means a pay cut.

But I agree. Him getting his act together is probably the best outcome we could hope for.

EDIT but I wouldn't mind a side bet on him going to Spurs in a Sterling plus cash for Kane swap deal.

The fly in the ointment is that Raz wants an improved contract if we are led to believe what we hear. If he wasn't in for an improved contract he would have the time to improve and win an improved contract.

Decisions regarding his form have to be made and if that form will return under Pep and the system he is utilising, maybe the system doesn't flatter Raz and if the system doesn't change then Raz has to move.

Not just the system Pep uses but also the system the opposition use

We are mostly up against this low block, it nullifies a player with speed as their main weapon - hence why sterling cuts a frustrated looking player

If as expected the majority of teams we face continue to employ this tactic, then there is little chance of sterling finding success when up against it

All i'm saying is you don't become shit over night and you 100% don't get into a team managed by a possession obsessed manager like Pep, if you can't trap the ball or do the fundamentals.
Sorry to remind you but ... Claudio Bravo. Came with a big reputation but fcukin dismal for us and was picked week after week until we were able to buy a functioning GK.

The one Rudiger blocked? That was just brilliant last ditch defending I think. If Dias did that I'd still be watching it on a loop now.

But yeah, failing to perfectly kill a 70+yard pass dropping over your shoulder, running at speed with a defender biting at your heels isn't something I'm really going to hold against anyone. If it bounced off him and out for a goal kick then I'd understand but I've seen Aguero and Mahrez fuck those up and their first touch is/ was amongst the best at the club.

I feel like he's getting more stick for stuff like that because people are already pissed off at some of the other things he's been getting wrong.
Easy to understand really. The only way he could retrospectively justify his brain-fart selection was by playing a blinder. Which he plainly didn’t.

The way I look at it, if he was playing for another club and getting around 300k a week, would I be sat here hoping we signed him? Would I hell.

you always post what ain’t going to happen plus we ain’t going back for an ex player with an attitude like Sancho he is suited to the scum..

I write what I wish to happen, not writing what I predict to happen.

Regarding Sancho attitude, I think it really doesn't matter.

Because he brings entertainment, Cash & points to the team.

To play first team football and nurture his career.

We’ve given just one player a real sniff of first team football in the last umpteen years. Our general philosophy is that yoofs are too big a risk at our level.

Meanwhile, Sancho established himself in a strong team, experienced living in another country, grew a list of suitors and might just be in for a big move. Possibly massive, even. Where did it all go wrong?

cross wires! agree moving to new country to play is fine I’m talking about his move to the scum

Kind of the point, isn't it?

An average performance by anyone else is just an average game. An average performance by Sterling has certain people frothing at the mouth.
The point is, he shouldn't have been in the side. Yes, he probably played no worse than anyone else, but if he had not have been playing we could have played Fern in a holding role. We shoe-horned Sterling into the side and fucked up the team formation in doing so. IF he was to start, it should have been on merit and ahead of Mahrez or Foden. Clearly he was ahead of neither on current form and since we needed Foden left and Mahrez right, he should have been nowhere near the starting line up. So not surprising there were raised eyebrows and also not surprising about the stick he was getting under the circumstances.
