Well i have every sympathy and also know someone who has this too.
Maybe the vaccines are not as good as what they have been made out to be?

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Mask wearing should stay for at least the next year. If more people would have done this from the start, including using hand gel more often, then I honestly believe cases wouldn't have been anything like as bad as they are and a lot of these restrictions would not have been necessary.

I don't get what your argument here is...

Are you trying to insinuate that the vaccines aren't all they're cracked up to be? We shouldn't be allowed to fully open up because even if you're fully vaccinated you can still get ill?

Meant to say this yesterday, but at Salford Quays, I saw a prominent labour MP entering the car park without a mask, depsite the fact that there were clear signs instructing all people to wear masks.

It's sad that even the people in positions of trust, supposedly educated people, can't get the basics right.
I believe that a lot of my fellow Brits are ignorant, stupid, pig-headed or a combination of all three and this is what is prolonging all our misery.

Well where I work (in a big building) everyone gave up wearing them weeks ago.
I still wear them even though I hate it but don't know why I bother when other people don't give a flying fuck.

and those wearing them have them round their chin or just over their mouth.

even supermarkets and shops don’t bother with hand sanitizer and wiping down trolleys now as they used to. We went to one saying hand sanitize before entering . No sanitizer in the dispensers.

everyone has given up. Hand washing is just basic hygiene anyway and I hope that continues Masks still have a role to play in packed indoor places like a busy tram but an empty tram ?

there is definitely lockdown fatigue kicking in with the general public now not just those who never bothered anyway.

That's utter nonsense.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my wedding next month is going to be cancelled (for the third time) if these restrictions aren't lifted.

Thousands of jobs will be lost etc.

All for a virus that I have around a 99.99% chance of surviving.

Is it a open car park? if so why would you need to wear a mask

I concur - every day they fuck around is going to cost millions and cost jobs.
I keep saying it some of these people like SAGE etc don't want it to ever end.

I think the issue is that by the time deaths and hospitalisations start increasing sharply then we have acted too late, likely resulting in another lockdown and potentially thousands of deaths, further job losses etc..

Cases cannot be considered 'absolutely irrelevant' as they will have some relationship with hospitalisations and deaths. What that link is now, we are unsure but it appears it is not as strong as it once was. Until we know that the link is very weak, then cases will remain important to some degree.

It's a huge payday for everyone within SAGE so of course they're going to drag it out.

I think the most likely scenario is that the SAGE are just shit scared of getting anything wrong, so they are ultra-cautious to cover their backs at any cost. There's no incentive for them to encourage a rational approach to opening.

Are we still on this? Cases aren't the focus, correct. But it's what they'll lead to when they rapidly accelerate, as they're about to, and where that places on number of people in hospital.

There is no point in waiting until they're already overwhelmed before taking action. The right time is now.

Apologies - that's my ignorance coming into play. I didn't realise that there were still restrictions on wedding and funerals. Hope your wedding gets to go ahead.

It is, but the stairwells, lifts and foyer where you have to hang around and pay for your ticket are inside. Admittedly, with the wind blowing through the different levels, the change of catching anything is vastly reduced but there is clear signage saying that to enter the building you have to wear a mask. It's not difficult to comply, is it?
