that last point should stay beyond Covid.

one of the best things being in the pub and have a nice person bring you your beer to the table instead of the bar scrum. Love it.
Totally agree but we are in the minority. Nothing worse than being stood at the bar and some scruff with manky breath is breathing right down the back of your neck

Government comments (not just Hancock) are that as the data stands June 21 will not be postponed - though some restrictions will remain for a while - e.g. working from home where possible, the wearing of face masks in buildings and possibly table service in pubs and restaurants.

Isn't that exactly postponing it, or have I missed something here?

Hancock has just said 'no reason currently to delay 21st reopening'.

If he really said that, he's an idiot, as his own scientific advisors say the opposite. This is exactly what happened at Christmas, govt painted themselves into a corner, felt obliged not to retreat, then the virus forced them to by killing so many people they had no option. Groundhog day.

pretty sure we never had vaccines then

wehave had single figure deaths for weeks and hospitals aren’t overrun and it’s summer.

a few important differences to the Groundhog Day

Dont mind the table service bit at all. But don't like not being able to move about or stand up, especially if the footy is on.

I'm cautious about (but not anti) re-opening on the 21st, but be clear that retaining table service in pubs and restaurants is NOT opening up. Table service adds hugely to the cost of running hospitality, never mind being the bain of the pub goers life.

OK day for Greater Manchester.

NW rose as a region by 68 to 1673. NW fell by all of 2 to 825.

Week to week NW up 635 and GM by just 194 - well below expectations.

So it was a pretty good day for GM.

Most places down slightly day to day.

Worst performer today being Stockport - up 22 to 97 and triple where it was last week. Possibly school test related based on the post above by Dan.

But for that unexpected reverse GM would have fared even better.

But only Manchester and Bolton over 100 is another positive to take.

Lowest score today though was Oldham on 44. Oldham faring the best right now in GM.

Everyone else in the 50s, 60s, 70 and 80s.

And does that apply to night clubs and weddings etc. Hopefully not!

Hospital update:

Last 3 days admissions were all under 100 - just. 93 - 96 - 96. Data 2 d ays behind remember.

BUT the patients going in from the NW is starting to rise noticeably. Though not yet at a very big level.

Over those three days the NW admissions were the most every time 31 - 30 and 43.

That 43 out of 96 for the NW is the highest percentage from one of the 7 regions in quite a while.

Indeed last week it was just 13 so tripled in 7 days.

London - the second highest - admitted just 16 in that 96. So NW was way over all the other regions.

Indeed 4 regions only admitted single figures in that 96.

Aside from Londons 16 only MIdlands on 12 were NOT single figures. So NW is easily the problem here as well as cases. Unsurprisingly.

Numbers would likely be going down otherwise.

No masks wearing in the building I work near the airport, roads a lot busier now and a few people I know been ordered back to the office and in the pub I went to on Friday, people ordering at the bar and dancing.

To counter that, I work in the most populous city in the UK. This does not reflect my experience of going out and working.

As well as avoiding those who spend the night sitting at the bar and obstructing us from ordering. Usually the ones who try to strike up a boring conversation and think that everyone wants to hear their warped views.

I see the same number of staff in the pubs I visit.

Do you normally not have table service in restaurants?
