I'm almost down to the end of my Aldi "Old Hopkins" and have to say if you enjoy spiced Rum like Captain Morgans, the Aldi stuff is worth a go

Snagged myself a bottle of El Dorado 15 for £38. Fucking yes! It’s normally in the region of £50. I love El Dorado 12 (best rum you can get for the price), so excited to try the 15 year El Dorado for the first time.

Can anyone recommend a dark rum to go with ginger beer? To be a “Dark n Stormy”, it legally has to be Gosling’s Black Seal, but it may not be the best way to go?

I'm well into captain Morgan's spiced at the moment, but no doubt BM's will advise me of other better products

That’s like the Fosters of the spiced rum world.

I had a couple of bottles of Zacapa from Guatemala. It's 23 year old and lovely. I've run out as it was duty free but decided to try Old Hopkins when I saw it in Aldi-it's really not bad for £15ish.

Havana Club is definitely the best from that list

Havana Club 7 Anos is the best of the lot in my humble view. I am also a fan of Mount Gay after once doing a tour of the distillery in Bridgetown, Barbados. That was a day which got very messy.

As a group we'd bought a substantial amount and the rep was given six bottles which were consumed on the minibus back to the resort

The Havana Club 7 Anos is not cheap. The problem is that once you have tasted it you won't want anything else. I got some in Asda for about £22 but it can cost up to £27 in other places. But it is superb. A very smooth taste and not too sweet like the especial is.
