I’m not surprised people are switching off but I really don’t get the comparisons to the BBC. Maybe I’ve not watched it enough but they seem nothing like each other

I am not entirely sure what they expected - started and run by an ex-BBC man who has employed quite a few ex-BBC presenters ........ what are they supposed to do? Simon McCoy naked burping the News? Brillo doing his monologues whilst locked in a fridge? Coast fella doing his unionist slot whilst sky diving ( given their lack of success on OB's right now that could end very badly ) - its a studio based TV political discussion program - its just Peston in the dark

I expect there are some for whom it is not rabidly right wing enough

It'll last. It won't be allowed to fail. Remember Wingnut Welfare has deep pockets.
And some donors will see a massive payoff if they can convert Britain into a deregulated corporate wonderland like the USA.
This.

I expect the editorial policy will (d)evolve as they get the numbers in from the data mining being collected on the app from their viewers which will decide the direction of the channel.

'CNN ratings down' in google will give you some details. All down, for sure,
Fox has recovered and remains the biggest, CNN has tanked.

Well, they may well succeed, Fox is the biggest cable prime time channel. Just checked CNN ratings, 80% down on prime time, they’re struggling big time.
You sound like a rag. 'But...but...we have 650 million fans'.

Another piss-poor attempt at trolling from you.

The Daily Mail is the most widely viewed 'news' outlet in the UK. However, it's main demographic is going to become more and more irrelevant, as it's filled with middle-aged and above, gammon bellends, with fuck all else to do but be outraged at 'the foreigns' and 'the gays' and 'the cancel culture snowflakes'.

Pretty much like Fox News.

You realise old people are just old young people right?

The young people must be reading the guardian then.

Ohh wait on I haven't thought this through.
Nope. The days of younger people consuming their news from the more traditional sources are long gone. But I suspect you knew that before you posted.

Online news isn't traditional, and as younger people get older they will become more conservative in general. Fast forward 40 years and their children will be saying that their views will be dying out.

If you're talking about the Love Island generation, don't put them on a pedestal you really shouldn't.

I suspect it's actually the most widely viewed news outlet because it's all over the celebrity gossip. The newspaper is quite a bit different to the website.

All that this whole thing shows is that while everyone bleats about wanting an unbiased and independent news source, the vast majority just want something that confirms what they already think. It's not a coincidence that the biggest selling newspapers are by far the most biased ones.

True, but apparently over 65s in America were found to be four times as likely to have shared fake news than under 30s and shared seven times as many articles on average. So perhaps the same is true of older people too. I wonder if they're just more likely to share news on social media in general, while younger people are sharing pictures of their Tamagotchis and talking about the latest cassettes.

Perhaps you're right, but I think the shift towards a more conservative outlook as younger people get older will happen less and less.

Young people now have far more access to information than ever before, and generally have more awareness of different cultures, lifestyles etc as a result.

the sports section is quite good as well - in terms of content, number of articles

Brillo pad demands the government privatise channel 4. 24 hours later ministers have announced they will discuss it. That's some power there.

To be fair that was in the news back end of last week. They are going to hold a fire sale because when all their traditional seats get pissed off with the north red wall getting a mobile library or a mini-roundabout in the name of levelling up - when the farmers from the shires desert the likes of Andrew Bridgen and when the forgotten 3m who own businesses, are self employed and have had no help can no longer be counted upon they will need to sell C4, the NHS, your and my data and so on to try one last tax give away to keep even a small majority at the GE. That is also why despite promises we are no nearer solving social care costs - the only viable answer being your granny sells her home and gives the cash to the owner of a private care home - they can't possibly ever reveal the truth - it did for Mayday

Brillo pad had tweeted out the same with no hint of self awareness.

How it started as we know

how its going for the gullible and stupid duped into the culture wars front line
