I think that England team has considerably more talent than the German lads but - what does the England establishment manage to do every generation?- has only a fraction of the psychological strength that German squad ( like all their others) has. Last Saturday they had to beat the defending champions to avoid elimination and right from the start - even when a goal down - there was never any sign of doubt and no negativity. Contrast this with our game with Scotland - two holding midfielders, play a dozen square passes slowly before going backwards and whatever you do never try to beat your man in their third... The England national team is still forced to avoid defeat at all costs, even in knock out games. Germany play to win: we play not to lose. Let us just hope that Southgate takes a good look at some of his players and tells them to play how they play for City ... and tells them to go out and play with intensity, score goals and win the game. Phil will lead the way.

I think the back line of Walker, Stones, Slabhead and Shaw is very strong and gives us a real chance. Need it really with Pickford in net.

Pickford

Walker
Stones
Maguire
Shaw

Rice
Bellingham

Foden
Grealish
Sterling

Kane

Phillips will probably start though.

Whatever team he selects people will cry and whinge.

Germany is gonna be tough but we do have the attacking players to cause them trouble and we’ve yet to concede - we have a big chance. C’mon England !

Err what?? Oh, I wish England players all agree. Would be a perfect setup for a home disaster last seen 2014 at Maracana.
Sadly Southgate won't do us that favour.

You get the formation right you win. You don't....well we know the answer to that. The Germans will step up a few gears, if you look at the game against Hungary and think that's all you have to beat, you're toast. Looking forward to it.
Oh dear, true colours coming out now from our friendly sour Scottish guest.

Looking forward to the UK broadcasters showing daily re-runs of the Gascoigne near miss goal against Germany in Euro '96 to get the nation in the mood.

Like they did repeatedly in the build up to facing the "Auld enemy" with Gazza's dentist chair celebration against the Jocks in the same tournament, same year.

Expecting another hard luck story with our creative/flair players getting splinters in their arses , when the chips are down Southgate just isnt at the level of other international team managers , he can only play one way , ultra defensive with pointless possession with the sole tactical aim to stifle the opposition. Expecting another clean sheet and penalty shoot out defeat, it would be refreshing if Southgate surprised the Germans and played with one holding midfielder and start with our two best attacking midfielders in Foden & Grealish and took the game to a very average German team , pigs might fly.

Couple of big decisions need making, otherwise we are going out......

I'd go with

------------------Pickford------------------
Walker--------Stones---Maguire--------Shaw
--------------------Rice----------------------
-------------Foden----Mount-----------
-----Saka--------Sterling------Grealish

I like this. Young, dynamic and interchangeable. Do you think Southgate is brave enough? Hope so.

The waistcoat will have a eureka moment and pick Bellingham and Sancho, simply because we are playing Germany and in the back of his simple football brain he has an idea that they play in the Bundesliga! So they are bound to know how to play Germans right? The next objective will be to get scum/dippers another international cap .
Oh and Foden will be on the bench, only to be brought on with 10 mins to go when we are losing, as probably will need a scapegoat to throw to the media when he can't turn the game around. Well that's Tuesday sorted !
