Covid and travel discussion

Spoken like someone who doesn't give a fuck about all the jobs lost. My dad's at swissport ends on Wednesday.
Unfortunately pal most people only care about themselves . Am happy for.them to keep my deposit money hope it helps them.tick over I have another holiday fully paid for 18 months ago so not everyone has booked during a pandemic .and now we're stuck having to either lose 4k or go so its not really a difficult decision for a family all healthy and all under 40 and double jabbed

We don't all live in an ideal.world.the pandemic has really shown most people to be selfish and only care about their own little world

I had Protaras for the 4th of July rolled over from last year but I don't trust the airlines to not go bump so opted for the refund this time.

Hope the prices come down for next year never seen it so expensive! Zodiac bar sold up last year wonder if any others will go on the strip.

Its crazy cyprus are happy to have us brits with no test and they have a minimal amount of cases and deaths . Yet to come back to engalnd where the virus is rampant u will have to have a test prior to departure . A test day 2 and 8 and isolate .

Your much safer in Cyprus than here .

Alot of business will go bust this year families losing homes everything they have in all countries due to people not being able to work unless it opens up its very upsetting

Many Russians over at the minute? They always go all inclusive and don't spend a penny on the strip.

Ha the ones I've met know how to break even on an all inclsuive thats why the brits are liked so much like to spend.

Cyprus is doubly screwed as its two biggest markets are Russia and UK the 2 hardest hit paces for covid.

Fingers crossed for next year . Not many tourists about hoping it changes end july

Incredible arrogance for anyone to tell people you don't even know to holiday where you want them to holiday.

I'm all for holidays abroad and will continue to travel internationally for my breaks, but I wouldn't dream of instructing people to holiday abroad and call them numpties for staying at home.

No it's the correct answer. Some may go bust, but others will take their place. Only numpties will go abroad this year. Testing, masks, quarantine, what a croc of shit to just get some sun. Holiday in the UK
What and pay double the price to stay in a place in this country

Trips abroad certainly holidays, maybe not family/work are supposed to be for enjoyment, relaxation & a re-charge.

I fail to see how not knowing if you can go/return as you wish even while there is relaxing let alone the additional cost can be enjoyable.

Managed to get to Rhodes in October on a re-arranged holiday (dates) and our regular hotel where we have friends closed early the week before we were due there so we ended up at a different part of the Island. Don't get me wrong where we stayed was nice enough and a higher standard than the hotel we normally stay at with the TUI 'bonus' but not where we wanted to be and didn't give us the experience we'd booked for.

We usually go abroad for a beech holiday 2 or 3 times per year, extra costs of tests, pissing about with them & uncertainty of world conditions have stopped us even considering anything at the moment. Neither of us work, well Mrs Moon is part-time, odd weekends here and there so so aren't affected by any green to amber stuff and could quarantine if needs be but, going back to my first point it just wouldn't be relaxing.

We're using this summer to visit my lad's new home in Abingdon next week & I've just come back from a lads 5 dayer in Anglesey. Mrs Moon will probably have a break with a girlfriend as well.

Should the situation change and not go crazy with prices then we'll start going back to Greece but, I can imagine prices will rocket as soon as we have any sort of 'normality' with both the travel industry collecting the monies people haven't spent over the last 2 summers and demand being so high.

As long as countries are deemed safe and we can only follow Govt. guidelines (gulp) I've not got any issues with others travelling but by the same token with it being a very fluid situation if you can't do the quarantine etc it's quite simple, don't fucking go.... I get annoyed when the news show people scrambling home and moaning....the risk that things can change very quickly are well known.

Bit of a morning moan.....I fucking miss sitting on a beech but think it'll be a few years before I get to do it again in Greece.

It’s already been noted further up the thread: it’s about the fact that Border Force cannot cope with the numbers.

Hopefully we’ll be flying in to Barcelona end of August. I’m lucky in that I can work from home for the post-holiday isolation period.

On an unrelated matter, Brexit has made studying abroad much harder. My eldest daughter is in the process of applying for a Student visa for her year in Madrid. My God, the number of steps involved and I’d never heard of a “Hague Apostille” until last week but now we have to pay them to ratify translations of medical and insurance documents! Money for old rope, anyone?

F****** Brexit.

Going abroad is safer than staying here you tool. Why would anyone want to holiday in this dump is beyond me. I’m off on hols in 2 weeks. Can’t wait to get a break from the tracksuit wearing scrotes, traffic jams, unpredictable weather and extortionate prices!

F****** Brexit.

My mate flew back into Heathrow from Gibraltar yesterday, straight through the e-gates with zero checks whatsoever.
It didn't sound robust when he told me, particularly when landing at an airport that has arrivals from all over the globe.

Brexit is the gift that keeps on giving eh? Least she has unicorns and sunlit uplands to look forward to in 30 years time.

I have to agree on the whole it's a thoroughly depressing experience. The weather is mainly terrible and unpredictable. It is a lottery if you cop the two good weeks we get every year, if you don't, well tough shit. This makes the holiday miserable as you have to dodge the showers or torrential rain if you dare to venture out of your accomodation.

Then we have the service in pubs, cafes, restaurants etcetera. This is generally dire, served up by uninterested staff, many of whom act like they're working there under duress not choice. Add on high prices for mediocre fare and it's just miserable. Hardly any pubs make any effort. Just a person with a guitar singing would be very welcome, but aside from the odd karaoke bar there is generally nothing.

Abroad you've got the guaranteed weather, value for money pubs, bars and restaurants with many having live entertainment every night. The two holiday experiences are just poles apart.

No doubt they do their whinging whilst waving the Union Jack in one hand, wanking to Hancock porn with the other whilst singing the national anthem.
