Name the players in this 1964/5 squad

Yes a Nelly header would have been memorable! Still, the free kick that sent us through to Wembley was a classic.
A good job Steptoe thought it was a direct free kick and parried it. If he'd have left it alone, the goal would not have stood. and they'd have had a goal kick.
Why is it I can remember matches from over 50 years ago, but not from last season?

I think the photo was taken at the public practice match at Maine Road on 17th August 1957 between the first team (Blues) and reserves (Maroons).
City should have played Sheffield Wednesday in the opening game of the season on the following Saturday (24th August), but that game was postponed as many of the Wednesday players were ill with Asian Flu, which was about to sweep through the country. As a result, City arranged another public practice match, during which Jack Dyson,(1st left sitting on the photo) broke his leg and didn’t play again for two years.
As to the black armbands, I’ve no idea, unless one of the directors say, or a prominent former player had passed on.

Well worked out & makes perfect sense. That team looks more like 1957 team than a 1958 line up. Think you may well be right.

My first season watching gods own team was 1965 , and my favourite player was Johnny Crossan he must have signed a few months after that team photo , do recognise a few of the players who were part of the 67/68 title team , when Mercer/Allison came in they transformed the team in a matter of a few months, great time to be a blue , a team built for buttons that took on and beat all comers.

6-1 was Rotherham mate,not Huddersfield.
Aye. I thought someone had mentioned Huddersfield as being after the Scunthorpe games but I may have imagined it. Huddersfield was previous home game before Rotherham (only won 5-2).

Worked with Bobby Kennedy for many years - really good man

Used to pull his leg how we had to sell Dennis Law to buy him.

Lunchtimes were like my own sportsmans dinner listening to Bobby stories of playing for City, receiving free fish at the docks when with Grimsby as a win bonus. He settled in Bradford after managing them too.

Always reminded him of Buzzers sportsman's dinner story about City touring USA when politican Bobby Kennedy was assassinated - someone went to Chairman Alexander room to pass on the news of the assissnation - he wanted to know why Bobby was out so late when there was a game next day.

If Bobby daughter Lorraine or grandson Mike are reading this - hello hope all are well.
Bobby is good!... he & my grandma still go to pretty much every home game with Lorraine & myself. I will pass on the well wishes, thanks
