Good watch brands

I’d forget any Rolex models unless you want a bi metal date just as ALL gents stainless steel models (sorry ,’oystersteel’) are unavailable to walk in customers.
You’ll be waiting up to a year for a steel date just and without a significant (20k plus) purchase history from an AD you simply will not get a sports model (submariner, gmt II, air king etc).

Spend £4550 on an omega seamaster 300m (google it) and save the remaining 5k.
It’s a true wear anywhere watch, with probably the best movement of any watch below Patek.
You will not regret it not fair warning when you’ve had one you’ll find yourself wanting another in a year or two.
I’m lusting after a new planet ocean or aqua terra at the moment.
Trying very hard to resist.
You're right about rolex, which is why I will never buy one new, even if I had the money. Fair enough have a waiting list, but it shouldn't be based on previous spend imo.
The new (ish) 300 with the laser cut dial is a stunning watch, especially in white. The display back is a nice touch, you can see where your money has gone, on that movement. Ive owned a few omegas and they have all been fantastic.
Currently have a planet ocean, cant fault it.

Oh the fun we had in the 70s
The kids these days don't know what real fun is...with their fancy "smart" phones and their Twatter and Facefuck!
I once got a 0.08 on the stop watch function of my digital watch. I'm still proud now!

Amen.
Definitely getting a planet ocean for my next watch, hopefully next year. 40mm, on a bracelet, black dial and bezel. I absolutely love that watch.

You could pick up a decent pre-owned PP Calatrava with that budget.

IWC Schaffhausen's Pilot range are simple and elegant and well within your budget.

Understated and very nice. It'll save you a few quid/dollars too.

You won’t get a lot for your money with 10k these days. Rolex gone through the roof. Patek no chance.

Tudor are a good value watch for the money. The Tudor BB58 is a great watch and the movement rivals the Rolex submariner if not better. Also you could consider the Omega Seamaster 300 great watch.

The Speedmaster Moonwatch was a good watch to go for however the latest model is too expensive for what they are.

Waste of money unless you buy one which you are going to keep for a long time and has some rarity. I have a fairly pricey watch and never wear it as I’m too frightened of it getting damaged or some scrote wanting to nick it. Buy yourself a Seiko, it will last forever and you can spend your money on something you will actually use.

Not really. I’ve been buying and selling watches for years. All depends on what you purchase. Your money is safe if you purchase the right watch.

Agree that if it’s for investment and you know what you are doing, but that’s true for most things, fine wine/whiskey, art, classic cars etc. But if you are purchasing to wear on a regular basis you are better off with a decent watch that you don’t need to worry about. Walking out in a 5k+ watch each day, is just setting yourself up to be robbed. Yes you could keep it for “special occasions” but how many of those are you gonna have each year ?
BTW surprised you didn’t mention IWC, they make some lovely watches which are really classy. Not sure how well the hold their value however.

Suppose people purchase items to just keep in a safe to wear on special occasions. However I wear mine all the time. Watches don’t need to be mint to be sold for a profit, in fact quite the opposite. Enthusiast like a worn watch to the extent that they won’t service the watch because when you take it to Rolex they will service and polish and they’ll replace parts to put the watch back to brand new! Takes away the character of the watch.

Yes there’s a opportunity for you to get robbed, however the risk is surly the same of being hijacked at the lights for your car? Both items will be insured, but the risk is the same. Doesn’t make you get the bus to nip to the shop because it’s not a special occasion to drive your car.

Yes completely agree, the international watch company do some cracking watches. I also would recommend Damasko, Sinn, Grand Seiko, Breitling or Longines but unfortunately these are not really purchased by the non enthusiast.

Get one of these...no kidding, when you press it, you turn INVISIBLE! True. Beware though..if you stay invisible for more than 15mins, you die.
But who gives a fuck about small details like that? INVISBLE!!! Imagine what fun THAT would be at parties.
