There are approximately 1.4m NHS staff, so that’d mean almost 300k were isolating, which seems extraordinary. Have you got a source for that?
I’m pretty certain they get told to turn the app off or even delete it tbf so imagine it’s nonsense.

*in some areas.

forecast is that 1.7m uk citizens will be isolating come end of July and will only increase if they dont do away with unnecessary quarantine.

That is clearly not what you said though. Please don’t post unsubstantiated nonsense in future, as it’s not really helpful to the discussion. Thanks.

Agreed. I guess that applies to the fourth wavers also.

Half my street seem to be isolating. I am doing shopping for a couple of people this am!

One of the lads at work has just been track and traced after 5 days, he went to Wembley for the Italy game and he did the app in every bar and Wembley, it’s took them 5 days to get him, since then he’s been home, to work and on several different stations! He only has to do 5 more days to make up the 10, so what is the point, most of his mates didn’t bother with the app and they are walking around, he’s even double jabbed, it’s just a nonsense.

it’s total nonsense, especially in schools . Where I live (alty) there are loads of kids knocking about during the day.

these are kids who are not able to go in to school due to their bubble being pinged so have to self isolate and not go into school.

Instead they just go into alty market with their mum for a coffee And nip into the supermarket.

am not sure that’s the point Of the self isolation rules.

edit. I should also say it’s even more nonsensical when the kids get tested twice a week anyway .

You must be getting better.

I don't know why we're all arguing. The lockdown argument has passed so we should all be on the same page. Restrictions are about controlling the infection whilst we protect against future infection through vaccination. However, the current round of vaccination is winding down.

This is going to keep circulating until each social group has significant enough immunity to prevent it spreading within it. Once we hit max vax, then natural infection finishes the process. IMO whether you then get there through a broad low peak, or a sharp spike makes no difference, providing general health isn't affected, so we have to be careful that the hospitals cope.

Longer-term we have to get a variant specific vaccine out and tested. That will be decisive.

yes I did a big walk yesterday, swimming later. Still fighting something or recovering from something but weight loss and better diet and good sleep is getting me there. Mentally feel as strong as ever and in a good place.

Hes not totally wrong. The report i heard was 1 in 5 in feb were off but it was worked on total man hours and worked days.
so say there was 5mil man hours in feb there was 1m hours sick leave
(Made those numbers up but point remains)

100% TandT is wreaking utter needless havoc at schools and work places etc

My nieces sch (c/hulme) has had a whole year closed. That many having to isolate theyve sent the rest home !
Wtf?

Doctors in the Netherlands reporting that almost all current hospitalisations involve people who have either not been vaccinated or have only been partially vaccinated. They’re also complaining, however, that nobody is tracking the specifics of these cases. For example, they are only keeping a record of whether a person has been vaccinated or not, or whether they have had their first or second doses, but not which specific vaccine these people have received. That naturally makes it difficult to determine how effective the specific vaccines are. Not sure how that is being managed in the U.K.

Maths prof rabitting on about exponential growth, especially for @True_Blue69 but also making the point that we do expect vaccination to impact this soon. It's somewhat disappointing it hasn't yet, to me at least.
