The number of patients with Covid in England hospitals last night was 14, 137 - with approx 2698 more in the other 3 nations - so 16, 835 in the UK.

A week ago England was at 17, 730, two weeks ago at 23, 020, 3 weeks ago at 28, 539 and a month ago at 32, 938.

It peaked at around 34, 000 in England in mid January.

Other 3 UK nations have fallen at similar levels in the past month.

The UK peaked at 39, 244 on 18 January - the peak of this current wave. When there were also 856 deaths in England hospitals alone on that actual day - not reported that day. As the daily reported numbers you see in the media are deaths from maybe 30 or 40 separate dates over recent weeks all added up.

Day by day since then both these numbers have plummeted.

The latest 5 day total for England hospitals deaths on a single day - Feb 17 - has just 287 deaths versus that 856 just 4 weeks earlier.

Lockdown and vaccines have changed things in a huge way with patient numbers and deaths in just 4 weeks as you can see.

Ventilated patients have plummeted too. From in England at the peak mid January of 3736 to just 2072 last night

Again these falls are mirrored in hospital data in the other 3 nations.
hI healdplace, So you think you can tell that the vaccines are working already from the data?

wow I cant express how pleased I am about this. I was convinced that numbers were stagnating .

Yes it is good news and if the North West can work out why they are still the highest (though signs it is changing even here too) we may be down even lower soon.

Here are the regional numbers today:

East 693 - down from 729 - Early Jan 5143

East Midlands 796 - down from 1077 - Early Jan 3077

West Midlands 958 - down from 1211 - Early Jan 4756

London 923 - up from 848 - Early Jan 10, 020

North East 468 - down from 570 - Early Jan 1911

South East 841 - down from 995 - Early Jan 6962

South West 407 - down from 622 - Early Jan 2786

And

North West 1216 - down from 1926 - Early Jan 6453

Maybe the schools could do something if there will be so much unworn uniform going spare, where it can be offered to younger pupils? It will have only been 2.5 months since they were last in school so not sure it’s a massive issue personally, like someone said they would have had to buy new uniform anyway.
We had family "hand me downs" as kids, I looked ridiculous in my sisters old bra.

That's not up to me. I am not an expert. There are posters on here who put up very good graphs and other numbers that you should see tracking such matters.

I am pretty optimistic based on those as far as I can follow them and how the data I can follow day to day is tracking which seems to back them up.

No hospital data update this evening. Technical issues preventing it being downloaded until tomorrow apparently.

Two day update then.
