Full GM details:

Total cases 1703 - DOWN 514 on Yesterday - from NW FALL of 1036

Slightly under the 518 par but only VERY slightly.

Wk to wk UP 114 when the NW rose by 304 So GM is doing a bit better here below expected rise of around 152.

BOROUGH / CASES TODAY / V YESTERDAY / V LAST WEEK

BOLTON 125 / DOWN 25 /DOWN 3

BURY 99/ DOWN 16 / UP 7

MANCHESTER 358/ DOWN 162 / DOWN 25

OLDHAM 162/ DOWN 68 / UP 31

ROCHDALE 139 / DOWN 38 / UP 23

SALFORD 177/ DOWN 36 / UP 10

STOCKPORT 123 / DOWN 64 / UP 15

TAMESIDE 136 / DOWN 26 / UP 19

TRAFFORD 136 / DOWN 50 / UP24

WIGAN 248 / DOWN 29 / UP 13

Much better day for GM. Bolton and Bury doing the best. Salford also hinting at stabilising.

Stockport joined them with much better numbers too and extended their lead over Trafford again,

Much lower week to week rises all round though, And all ten boroughs down on the day.

Manchester by a huge amount it was good to see.

Greater Manchester

Weekly total cases:-

Bury 779, Bolton 851 , Tameside 914 , Stockport 962 , Trafford 1059, , Rochdale 1065 , Oldham 1249,
Salford 1292. Wigan 1688, Manchester 2914.

Salford and Wigan still going up and Oldham, Rochdale and a struggling Trafford all now into four figures.

But much smaller rises today and Manchester fell,

Bolton and Bury were the first to spike and are now the best with Tameside clinging on, Though every borough now averaging over 100 cases a day.

Does anyone think the vaccines should be made compulsory?
Probably not but I'd make vaccination compulsory if you wish to work in certain sectors, go on holiday, to the pub/cinema/restaurant etc.

You can then choose not to get vaccinated if you wish to miss out on those activities.

Obviously it could only apply once everyone has been offered the vaccine.

Does anyone think the vaccines should be made compulsory?
Surely making it mandatory would help us flush the virus out even more?
I know it's never gonna happen in this country but I've read in other countries that you have to have it, think the Philippines.
No. Opens Pandora's Box then for drug companies to insist their next product is essential and needs mandatory vaccination and it may not be as safe or as altruistic as these vaccines.

GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.5

Manchester 527 / 439 / UP 88 Testing positive 11.7%

Oldham 527 / 297 / UP 230 Testing positive 11.2%

Wigan 514 / 382 / UP 132 Testing positive 10. 6%

Salford 499 / 417 / UP 82 Testing positive 10.9%

Rochdale 479 / 304 / UP 175 Testing positive 11.2 %

Trafford 446 / 301 / UP 145 Testing positive 8.5%

Bury 408 / 343 / UP 65 Testing positive 10.8%

Tameside 403 / 289 / UP 114 Testing positive 9.4%

Stockport 328 / 234 / UP 94 Testing positive 8.5%

Bolton 296 / 265 / UP 31 Testing positive 11.8%

Still some big weekly rises but most fell today.

Bolton went down 2 and stayed sub 300. And with Stockport well clear of the rest who are now all in the 400s or 500s, OK as things are these need to start falling.

Three in the 500s is not good for GM either - all higher than Bolton ever reached when it was all over the national news,

Oldham's bad numbers took it to the same Pop score as Manchester who had a much better day today. So they are joint top of this unwanted table,

Trafford case numbers remain worse than Stockport and lost another huge chunk of its lead on overall Pop Score.

Stockport up 42 - which was the lowest in GM today - and is now on 8457 but Trafford up by more - 57 - to 8495 - a swing of another 15 to Stockport despite its high numbers today - meaning it is now best Pop Score across the pandemic by 38.

Bolton up 44 to 11, 835.

Oldham 67 to 11, 217.

Manchester not far behind up 64 - now on 11, 700.

Rochdale on 11, 168 now falling behind the rampant rise of Oldham68

Salford rose by 68 to 10, 962 - likely to enter the 11K club tomorrow.

With Bury, doing much better now and rising by just 52 - good by recent standards but 99 is still a lot of cases for this small borough - now on 10, 781.

Wigan up by 76 to reach 10, 599.

So just Stockport and Trafford - both in the MID 8000s for now - as they are rising too fast to be confident it will be for long - - and Tameside a rung above on 9407.

None in imminent danger of heading into the 10 K club with the rest of GM, But imminent is getting nearer these days!

WIGAN 81.5% / 61.4% V 81.4% / 61.2% Up 0.3

Wigan and Rochdale only up 0.3% did the fewest today, Sadly given their case numbers,

But Tameside were the best going up 0.8% And most others doing well, But Oldham need to be doing better given their cases,

A point Marvin has been saying for a while regarding Immune escape and mutations is discussed in this video, if you've got the time watch this.. some good questions being asked and answered about vaccines as well..

Israel racing to vaccinate schoolkids and considering restrictions as delta spreads. 75 infected at single high school party from a vaccinated but infected adult.

[Edit: I think I've interpreted this slightly wrong - see below from @ayrshire_blue https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/coronavirus-2021-thread.348970/page-2968#post-13963679 ]

Completely missing the point, the vaccine is stopping deaths and helping the NHS to cope with the pandemic, hopefully it will lead to better treatment for those with non Covid life threatening illnesses. The disease may and probably will get stronger but if we are just one step behind we should be able to cope. I hate cunts like these two, what's their alternative? Letting millions more die to achieve herd immunity? It's not worked with any other disease so far, vaccines got rid of polio, not herd immunity.

Not just missing the point. Intellectually dishonest.

Does being double vaccinated prevent you being a carrier and passing it on or is that not yet known?

you can still catch it and it’s a toss up if you fell very unwell with it or it feels like a cold or nothing you can pass it on but it’s believed the transmission of Covid is a lot less if you vaccinated..

See report from Israel a couple above of a double vaxxed person infecting 75(!).

It makes it less likely that you'll catch it, and less likely that if you do you'll pass it on, but doesn't eliminate either.

Does anyone know the details of how this variant played out in India? I’ve read little titbits in here about it but wondered if anyone has hard facts?

Fact check of the bollox video posted a bit earlier.

Short version: "it's bollocks"

Perhaps, but indirectly if I'm reading it properly. The vaccinated person is known to have infected one person but I don't see mention of that one person's vaccination status, and its them who's gone one to infect 75 people at a party. Apologies if I'm picking it up wrong but it's a whole different ball game if a vaccinated person is infecting 1 or 75 other people, though it does still show they can transmit.

I think you are reading it properly. Why would the relative be at an end of year school party?

I think you're right, thanks for the correction.
