GB News hasn't been pretending to be news. Andrew Neil gave an interview to the spectator before the launch explicitly stating that they weren't news but an opinion based outfit.

It’s simply a rolling channel that consists of the Wright stuff/Jeremy Vine /loosewomen/dateline London/The Pledge (Sky), talkradio etc but broken up by advertising instead of news and quality programmes.

But coming from a narrow editorial view point, targeting a narrower group of the population, and without the same standards towards balance or fact checking.

They probably shouldn’t have called it GB News if they’re not pretending to be a news channel.

Well yes. I did realise that, but they are hiding in plain sight. Andrew Neil made a specific reference to American style opinion based channels.

Is the point of GB news to generate money or is the point of it to pretend that a larger proportion of the country share the right-leaning worldviews of their ownership and lobby government and policymakers to carry out their wishes.?
