I know what you are saying but these days it's all about "contact" these are highly gifted players with tremendous balance, they ride those challenges outside the box. Even the pundits say "he's entitled to go down", a penalty should be for a challenge that clearly was meant to hamper a player rather than just a slight touch, Martial, Fernandez, Rashford, Mane and Salah are amongst the worst and it fucks me right off.

Yeah, I tried to clarify in an edit. Maybe(only he knows) he wasn't knocked enough off balance to go all the way to ground and he looked for the second contact. However, I don't think the Denmark defender was going for the ball there, by leaving his leg outstretched like that(ball was already past him), so isn't that an attempt to hamper the players progress as you put it?

Players are also told to go down if they've been impeded in the box, he may well have got to that ball without that,
is the justification for it. So even if he did make a choice to go down after being put off balance, I think it's a little unfair to question his character for it. If he had been looking for the contact that sent him off balance, maybe but even then, that's what Kane, Grealish(Vardy against City... grrr) get praised for all the time,"clever" movement, to buy freekicks and penalties.

I hope all the City fans demanding City buy Grealish, know that's a big part of his game and the media will probably spin it negatively, as soon as he puts on a City shirt.

Maybe I'm tactically inept despite the football I've seen over years but how does foden not walk in that side? Attitude? Seems a very eager young man. Honestly questioning my ability to spot a good footballer when I see he's that far down for England.

Genuinely interested to opinions more informed than mine as to why he doesn't start.

I think Grealish has struggled as much as Foden has to impact the games he's played so far, like he does in the league. Rashford shouldn't be anywhere near this team over the other choices we have either.

I think they must be talking about the fans clamouring for Grealish and Sancho all the time. I don't think Southgate is the type to bow to the fans demands like that to his credit though.

I don't think the pictures tell the story you are sorry, he didn't simulate, he tried to avoid the contact if anything which made it easier to knock him off balance. That's when he decided he's going to go down perhaps but he had already been impeded and refs don't give pens if you don't go down. I do agree there's too many soft penalties are given but it annoys me more that Sterling is held to a different standard and that our(City's) own fans are blind to it sometimes.

Yeah, we've been through that a few pages back, I gave screenshots and everything. Hammoc gets that there was contact but he thinks he looked for it and there was some simulation. I just didn't see it like that. If he was looking for it, he could have made it a nailed on Pen IMO because the defender dangled that leg out for the taking.

Soft pen but not a dive for me. Suppose there's no point going over it too much, people rarely change their mind on these things, once they've made their mind up.

I said struggle to impact the game, like he does for City. The kind of impact Sterling is having for example, he's causing teams lots of problems. I'm not saying he's been poor but has his output been anywhere near his City form? Grealish is the same, not making that much happen.

So much more could be going through them if we were getting the best out of them. They have other gears to find is the general gist of it.
