I feel like I'm going insane with the "Sterling dived" nonsense.

The Denmark #5, Maehle, you can see his right knee clip Sterling's right calf/ankle. At the same time, the Denmark #24, Jensen, barges his right hip into Sterling's left thigh/hip. The combined force of the contact sends Sterling to the ground.

People are acting like he threw himself over without so much as a whiff of a defender being near him.

Some of it coming from City fans too. There are some who seem to want to knock Sterling at every opportunity.

I’m a danish city supporter, so the decision is a bit more painful to me, since I was on the receiving end :-)
I’m not giving Raheem stick, it’s the refs decision, that is hard to comprehend.

Anyways, as I wrote in the thread yesterday.
Congrats, England were the better side.
Fair play, didn't know you were Danish so you can complain away. :-)

It was soft but I think it is a pen. Any other player then Sterling and lot more people say it's a pen

I wouldn’t be, if it was a foul, but it was never a foul. Look at his movement. Raheems leg doesn’t move or change dirrections, he manage to take half a step, before falling to the ground.
That split second where he realises, a slight insignificant touch.. and then he tumbles.

The knee to his right leg, you can see the vibrations in Raz’s hamstrings. And then there is hip to hip contact that’s not legal after that n’all.

It’s right on the border of not being a penalty, granted. It’s the softest penalty you’ll find that is a penalty. But it is a penalty.

How times have changed. Lineker once got us a penalty against Cameroon, got us into the semi of the wc, he was a hero for that.

Sterling = hated

Fortunately the majority of people can be happy for him and enjoy the moment. Sadly there will always be a few on here and in the media who feel the need to be negative about anything that relates to Raz.

Yes I must remember that, it is the few. Thinking of giving up social media because it does amplify them

Raheem evades the first challenge, which was no where near the ball, by moving to his left and then gets hit by the other defender, who was no where near the ball, and has no where else to go but down. That's a penalty!

Also, how come there isn't the same debate about the challenge on Kane, which was a penalty all day, every day!

It's no coincidence that the posters who have spent the most time in the Sterling thread calling him shit are the same ones trying to claim it wasn't a penalty.

They've got it bad, bless.
i suppose he did go down a tad easy, but fuck me i'd have taken it all day long in the champions league final

like i said early on foden last season when he stayed on his feet when clearly fouled ? we was moaning should have gone down to get the pen. look the game has got a referee and VAR and its up to them to give it not us

I wonder if Danish forums will be calling the Manager a fraud, a bottler, a yes man etc today.
Doubtful.

He has managed to lead a team containing unfashionable names and B league players and have them playing way beyond the sum of their parts. He has done great with limited resources and played to their strengths.....all on the back of near tragedy and subsequently without their talisman.

England were the slightly better side and deservedly went through.

The Ref got both penalty decisions absolutely wrong - Kane was fouled in the box - not called. And Sterling was brushed by a defender and then went down - called for a penalty. Not for me. Sterling intentionally went down after the slightest of contact - but the contact wasn't sufficient IMO to warrant a penalty.

In the Euros, VAR decisions are much more rapid and I like, overall, how VAR is working in the Euros. Yet, for me, the foul on Kane should have been overturned by VAR as should have the foul on Sterling.

Taking a break from the Sterling/Penalty issue, anyone know who the visually impaired sports ‘reporter’ is that does the player ratings for Sky?

A 6 for Kyle “Full marks for the critical covering run and tackle to stop Damsgaard when the Danish forward broke through but unable to offer anything of note going forward and his distribution was erratic. But when England needed experience and clear heads, he didn't make a mistake.”, BUT AN 8 for Maguire !WTF? AND Stones was also given a 6!

And whilst Sterling was given an 8, so was Saka ?

Was I watching a different game ?
