Running thread

I've had this a few times. It always coincides with a new pair of footy boots. If I go back to using my old ones again, it disappears quite quickly. This also confirms it was the new boots causing the problem.

For this reason, I always stick with Nike football boots. Anything other - especially Adidas - gives me achilles tendonitis again.

I've never had this after a change in running shoes - maybe because the heel cushioning is better.
Hmmmmm.

Interesting you say that as I’ve played last few years with Nike and switched to a pair of, yes you guessed it, Adidas a few months back. For playing on Astro they feel much better the new ones but maybe there’s something in what you say.

I was out for over year with Achilles tendonitis, I have no idea what caused mine as I dont play football. What helped it no end and I'd say almost cured it was sorbothane heel pads from amazon. I wish I tried them earlier, I would have been back running much sooner.

It's an awful injury to have because you can walk for miles without it hurting so assume you can run, but when you try you cant run more than a few steps before it starts killing. So frustrating.

Just completed a steady 6km. I've been self-isolating for the last six days, and not even allowed out of my garden to walk the dog. It's good to get out for a run again.

Been doing zone 2 5k runs all year. Away on holiday now so not ran for a week. Once I've been sat down for a while, when I get up I have a real pain in my hip. The last couple of days this pain has transferred to my knee.

It's fine when I'm walking around, it's only when Ive been sat down a while the pain when I get back up is severe. The obvious solution is not to sit down. Ever.

Anyone had anything similar?

Been running 5k 5 times a week now for 2 months and I can not seem to beat my time of 30:20, any tips?

how some of you are doing 15k i don’t know haha

This past Sunday I ran 17 miles from Sale to the Etihad, plus a bit of a detour on the way back. Struggled a little at the end but my time was about 2 hours 50 / under 10 mins a mile.
I am training for the Manchester marathon and running for cancer research. I've done several half marathons but this will be my 1st marathon.
Running really has been my saviour the past 16 months.

best advice is to take the first 4 miles really really easy! Then up your pace and you will hit a really good runners high spot.

My PB is 1:53 a few years ago now

Yeah i've been doing 5/6 mile runs this last week or so.

Doing between 8.30/9 min a mile. Changed my time reporting on my garmin to miles now rather than KMs

Be great if i got under 2 hours.

Done a 10k under 56 mins so hopefully

that’s a quick pace

Id recommended your first 5 miles to go between 9:30/10 pace.
Then hit 9 pace for a few miles.
Then see what you got left in the tank
