Awaits climate change denier claiming its always rained in Germany etc or after they have built carbon capture machines a European sized umbrella will come next.

Sorry but this is so far from the reality of the world.

of course we have the power to change the climate. When we observe the earth from space. Comparing the earth to scale to a wooden globe you have on a desk as an example. The atmosphere of our planet to scale is less than a single coat of varnish would be on that wooden globe.

now imagine, putting millions of years of CO2 stored in the earths crust back into the atmosphere in 100/200 years? You don’t think they will effect anything?

how about a real world example. After the 2nd world war there was a global cooling event for a few years due to the level of dust etc in the atmosphere kicked up by all the explosions. That is, by the very defining of it. Changing the climate.

Watched David Attenborough the other night.
One interest fact regarding the rate of extinctions of both plant and animal life absolutely spiking off the charts in the last 10-20 years, was demonstrated alarmingly with a pie chart showing all higher animal life only, i.e. all animals with a backbone on earth.
approx. 60% of this category are livestock farmed as a food source for humans.
Humans are only around the 30% mark
and wild animals only make up around 6%.

That in itself says a lot as far as I’m concerned. We’re killing biodiversity.

Your WW2 example -where was the global cooling event during the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 70s -when the USA dropped almost 4 times as much ordinance as on all sides during WW2 on Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia?

My point is that Policy is being dictated by our Generation of useless Politicians on the worst possible case Climate scenario Models. Why? Because suddenly they have realised that the Taxing possibilities of this are endless. When will Climate Change ever be “fixed?”

We are attempting to Fix Climate Change on the basis of reducing CO2 emissions -which is a false dawn in my view -as CO2 emissions are a minuscule part of an equation we are nowhere near understanding. I’m not dismissing attempts to reduce this but the let’s stop this lie about fixing Climate Change that’s become part of Political discourse.

If only someone had picked up the phone to Ribble73 we could get back to polluting the ocean, concreting the world and choking kids whilst enjoying some nice weather.

Sky news has a climate change program that is on usually after the main news explaining how we are all killing the planet.
Now the same Sky news has just been gushing about some bloke going for a joy ride into space and saying that in the future people going for joy rides into space will be a multi billion pound industry.
As far as I am concerned this dos'nt add up, as my dad used to say you can't run with both the dogs and the hares.
I know sky news are just journalists and basically scum of the earth but this is serious piss taking.

The same Sky News that sends reporters all over the world on planes and is plugged into the national grid using fossil fuel energy. If they cared about climate change then they'd pack up and shut their channel off. Instead they are part of the same thing everyone is part of nowadays, you have to be seen to be saying something about it but don't worry about actually doing anything.

The climate movement has become quite mainstream nowadays yet no-one is really doing anything personally about it, no-one has changed their behaviour and no-one is going to. They'd rather just blame governments and there you go it's someone else's problem.

The whole thing is a farce in the sense that celebrities, the media and major corporations are now doing everything they can to pin the blame on everyone else. Leonardo Di Caprio made a movie about it yet he has a carbon footprint that is quite similar to a small town. Prince Harry is the same but it didn't seem to stop him flying 5000 miles to see a statue of his mother for half an hour.

Basically, until we start to tackle the population/consumption problem then we cannot fix climate change, it's impossible. Even if we changed to 100% electric cars for example, electric car batteries still require carbon intensive mining and there will be demand for millions of them! Even if we converted wholly to solar, we'd need so many materials and work to make the panels and it's infrastructure (carbon intensive) that it'd be pointless. In the end though when we've dug every hole that can be dug, filled every field and killed every animal around it, what's the point?

Any attempt to solve this problem is self-defeating unless we tackle the only thing that matters and that's consumption. If we reduce consumption by 50% (god knows how) then that still becomes pointless if we will increase the population over time by 50%. The actual figure is more sobering, the population has increased by 900% in just 200 years.

Unfortunately, we are f*cked.

that same joyride carried the worlds richest man who wants to make a Climate Change a priority -
